This is AT&T. I had to change my user name and password at my online account today, and this was a security call from them to make sure I had initiated the request.

Got a plain text email from SBC Customer Service with this number - I have AT&T - NOT SBC. Never sent SBC or AT&T a letter regarding my account. They did have my full account number. I think AT&T owns SBC, but this still sounds fishy.Dear ### - Thank you for your recent letter concerning your telephone account ###. As our customer, you are important to us. We have the information to answer your questions. Please call our office toll-free at 1-800-288-2020 within 10 days of receiving this letter. If we do not hear from you within that time, we will consider this matter closed. Sincerely, Joyce Customer Service Representative

I agree with some of the other comments. I do NOT believe this is really AT&T calling. I retired from Pacific Bell but never worked for AT&T. This might be their main number but it has called my land line once a month for the last 3 months. They'd have no reason to call me. I have a feeling they've been spoofed! ugh!

They called twice, left no message. I don't have AT&T.

Getting these on an unlisted number. It usually means ATT has given the list to someone. It starts out saying please hold for an important message ... I hung up at that point

SBC is under AT&T

Like many of the other posters on this site, I got a call from AT&T that was downright strange. The call came in at 7:13 pm on Friday, February 16, 2018. My caller ID said, "ATT" and the phone number was 1-800-288-2020. The caller did not leave a message. I have had AT&T phone and Internet service for seventeen years. My bill was paid in full and my check was cashed. The community where I live provides DirecTV so I hope they are not trying to sell me a second television package.If this was a legitimate call from AT&T they would have left a brief message. Why call if you are not going to communicate? This sounds like a telemarketer.Have a good day everyone and don't answer the phone.

sbc isn't UNDER att, they ARE att. sbc bought att then changed their name to att. stupid but true.

Calls you get from 800-288-2020 should be relatively harmless...they were for me. It was AT&T trying to schedule an appointment, or confirming an appointment to install equipment. 's cool.
