Received a call from this number. My Verizon caller ID labeled this as suspected spam, and I agree because I am NOT an AT&T customer and they left no message, which leads me to think they make random calls and scam any unsuspecting AT&T customers who answer.
I get these calls daily several times a day.. they are selling a package of home phone, tv, and some other service for 69.95 a month.
Just received a call from 800-288-2020, didn't answer because I didn't recognize the #. Now I know who it is. They didn't leave a message.
Called on my AT&t cell and id read the 800 number and "unknown" underneath the number. Foreign male accent said he was with AT&T and asked how I was doing. I said I was fine. I guess he didn't like that because he hung up on me. ??????If he was really with AT&T I think my phone would have said that. I wonder if he even knows of his mistake there... BLOCKED.Then, I called the number back from another phone using *67 and and it went to an auto message from AT&T and was able to read the number I was calling from anyway! VERY CREEPY and STILL BLOCKED!
Just received a call this AM (automated). I called, and the CSR told me this was generated from an address verification which was automatically performed in their system. No inquiry or change request had been made. Seems like they could have filtered this, since he told me it had the letter "E" before the record. Wonder if it's being used as a contact point to help drive sales?
ATT does not have to give your number to telemarketers they have machines that automatically dial numbers in sequential order.
I got a call from this phone number today. Since the person on the other end was Indian, which is such a huge source of telephone and computer scams, I don't trust anyone who calls me with an Indian accent. Unfortunately, the scammers have given India a bad name. The man was trying to sell me on an AT&T phone, internet and DirectTV package. Due to various issues that I was well versed in associated with where I live, I knew that I wasn't able to have such a package. The thing that really made think this was a scam is that he initially said he was calling from AT&T, when he found out I couldn't have the package he switched to trying to sell me a Comcast package. Since when does AT&T try to help out the competition??? I didn't get as far as to see what the scam is, but I wouldn't be surprised if the basis of the scam is to get a hold of your credit card number.
