OK, I received a phone call on a Sunday afternoon from this number; my daughter did as well. She called and they could not confirm her info so she dismissed this as being a fraud. They called back today - left a voicemail on MY CELL and HERS. They did indicate (on my phone) they were calling on her behalf and her institution (the place she has her credit card through). SHE called her credit card bank and did find out - get this - that there were some suspecious charges on her credit card. Because she doesn't use it (paying it off) she went to get it and found that her billfold had been taken from her backpack (she's a college student so she hadn't even used her debit card either). So, to make a long story short - this person put around 500 bucks on her credit card....she will not have to pay the charges and she also filed a police report (he went to places with CAMERAS!). The police are going to go to these places and watch the tape. Sounds like they are also going to press charges. I guess I was wrong.
Not on your ACCOUNT your DEBIT card get the 2 straight, as far as asking for someone not at that number ALL are information come from the bank how do u think we get your name number and address and card number
One final bit.I realized after posting that the logical question would be, well how come they haven't called before. For me it was a usage pattern. In very short succession I used the call at a brick and mortar retail establishment, then an online facility and then at another brick and mortar. Certainly is a pattern indicative of potential abuse.
I got a call this morning asking to verify transactions. They have called me before and only after I had made an online transaction through Facebooks, Mafia Wars which is based in another country (MW, not facebook) so I feel they are looking out for me, they also knew that I ate at McDonalds this morning and how much I spent now I would have freaked out if they knew exactly what I ordered, LOL.I think I would have felt more comfortable had the bank or whomever has them watching our information contact us to let us know that was being done then I think there would have been less red flag. Having said that I think they are legit.
Y'all should include basic courtesy in Terry Falconi's training. You are a rude and tactless (and tacky) bunch.
I got a a call this morning to verify four charges to my account. All of the charges were legitimate but I was immediately alarmed because I had never heard of the company and the woman I was talking to was obviously not from my bank based on her accent. I called my bank and they said that the call was not legit. They canceled my card and are sending me a new one. After reading this thread, it seems that the company is probably legit and I overreacted. I don't think it's a big deal that I overreacted though, because this is my money and I care about it. I think it's equally stupid not to question calls about your financial situation. If this company is legit and wants people to feel safer when they call, then make sure that each financial institution that they work on behalf of knows about them. From top to bottom. I am more apt to believe the tellers that I talk to in person than some woman with a foreign accent.
Thank you for understanding that we are trying to help not still info. We see the transaction the second your card is used you see the them when they post to your account usally 1 to 2 days after they are paid for. If you get a call in the future hope u know again we are trying to help
I have been with Forum Credit Union for 2 years and had never received these calls until Sunday evening on my cellular number and then on Monday afternoon at my work number. I was asked to verify several recent charges on my account. I had made all but one to TWX magazines (magcustomerservice.com). I contacted the 800 number provided, but the TWX could not locate any account in my name. I googled the phone number and reviewed alot of reports. The one time it went to voice mail, a message was left by a computer identifying itself as the Forum Credit Union Security Department.Although uncomfirmed, there appears to be something suspiciious.I would not provide any information, but hang up and call your bank directly using your local contact number, not a number provided by the caller.
Called to verify transaction being made through credit union. So instead of calling the 800-327-8622, I called my bank first and they verified that the number is not a scam and they are just wanting to verify transaction being made that are not normal, which was true in our case.
I got woken up this morning by a call from this number. Before I could even answer they hung up, and proceeded to not leave a message. There are only two groups that act like this: Telemarketers, and people trying to scam you.For those of you that believe everything written on this site: Don't you think those responsible might know about this popular site and be posting fake stories about how legitimate it is?I don't personally know who was calling or why. I am 100% positive though that it was not because of any possible debit or credit card problems. I know this because I have experience with my banks thinking my card was stolen. The BANKS called me directly from known Bank numbers, and when one of them didn't get me directly they left a message telling me to call my Bank.On a final note, the banks I use and most major banks utilize secure messages to notify the customer of any problems. The messages are within the bank's website past all the security features.DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MESSAGE. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO VIEW YOUR RESPONSE. YOUR MISSPELLING AND BAD GRAMMAR DO NOTHING BUT MAKE YOU GUYS SEEM UNEDUCATED AND REMOVE ANY VALIDITY YOU THINK YOU HAVE.
