I get calls from this number all hours of the day and night. They do not identify themselves or what they want. I am certain that I do not owe anyone and they won't tell me otherwise. I found out that they are a debt collector. I have asked them to cease and desist but they refuse.
That was too easy. I called them to get my name taken off by saying it was the wrong number, Just for fun I used a fake accent.
These people have to be very stupid. I called and spoke to some prick who tried to tell me I owed something that was paid off years ago. I calmly explained that they must have purchased a debt from some company that didn't keep proper records. They told me they hear this kind of thing all the time and when would I be making my payment to them because I'm obviously a deadbeat who is just trying to get out of my responsibilities. I keep my paperwork and asked for either a fax number or a mailing address so that I could send them proof that my debt was settled. The prick I spoke to didn't want to give me either but continued on about what I need to do to pay them the money I owed them. What they do is blindly buy old accounts at big discounts and hope to intimidate people into paying them. They are just taking shots in the dark and not doing their homework. They don't show up on my credit report so screw 'em.
This place is a riot. They keep calling me everyday twice in a row and never leave a message. I usually ignore 800 numbers like most people, but the repetitive calling sparked my interest as to what they could be calling about so I finally answered. The first time I got a message to hold for the next available rep. A sure sign that I am dealing with a real “classy” establishment. After waiting for about 10 minutes some one comes on the line and loudly asks to speak to someone I don’t know. I asked who was calling and they told me “NRA”. So assuming it was the National Riffle Association, I laughed and hung up. The second time I answered I went through the same thing. Except this time the guy on the phone would not disclose the name of the company if I wasn’t who he was looking for. Yeah sounds real legit! The third time I finally got the real name, “National Recovery”. And even though I wasn’t the person they were looking for they asked if it was possible for me to contact this person for them. Um No! And the fourth time They hung up before I told them they had the wrong number for the umpteenth time. So I called them back to let them know that they need to stop calling me. They cursed me out and hung up on me. So I called back. This time I finally got them to tell me what kind of business they were (debt collector)... I am sure that almost everyone (whether you owe money or not) has had these kind of calls from these companies. Now I am not going to sit here and go on about how horrible these companies are. I am just going to state that both parties should be more educated on the subject of debt collection. First and foremost; Never conduct any transactions over the phone unless initiated by you or proof of debt. Don’t let them tell you they don’t have to, because under those standards I can call random people and threaten them to give me money... Does that sound legal to you? These employees are trained to intimidated you and scare you into thinking that you need to pay them. Ask them to send proof of the debt you owe. You don’t need to know what they should send you, because 9 times out of 10 they won’t send it to you. Remember they want to get paid and if they send you proof, that gives you the chance to legally dispute it. Which is a waste of time and resources for them. There main form of income comes from the people they can scare into paying over the phone. Asking for proof usually does the trick and they will either cut their loses or sell the debt in question to another company. These company usually don’t last very long anyways. Over the past year my sister had been contacted by 4 different debt collectors for the same debt. Meaning that one didn’t succeed so it went to the next one. I would also like to tell the people that work for these companies that they need to educate themselves about the laws (FCC, FTC, and FDCA) and what you are required to do and say when it comes to contacting people. Telling me that if I am not the person you are trying to contact you can’t tell me what company you are with is not only illegal under FTC but you are required to do so with in the first few seconds when you get an answer. Oh and it applies to ALL companies. Yes you are right about the “do not call” not applying to debt collectors, but that doesn’t mean we can’t file complaints with the FCC and FTC which carry far worse penalties for companies. I know it is a crappy job and you need to make money, but learn something about it. Also to the people that work for these companies and want to defend yourselves on complaint sites like this; Don’t. Cursing, typing in all caps, and telling us to “pay our bills” is not only unprofessional and unnecessary, it doesn’t always apply to everyone complaining or what they are complaining about. Plus I am sure if you were on the receiving end of these phone calls you would be complaining too.

They call my cell number every weekday. My number (and likely 1000's of others) is blocked so why are they even bothering? There can't be any profit in this. Anyone who works the phones for them will likely be cheated by the Russian, Iranian, [***], etc who "hired" them.
In Alabama: I got the call from 800-360-4319 for the first time today. The woman who left the voice mail sounded like she was "live". All the message said was "This is Lisa. Please return my call at 800, etc." I reported it to Do Not Call but I think these companies have a way of getting around it.
