Got a call from this number. I answered it and it was a recording saying I won $108 it prizes. I didn't let it go any further. I hung up.DS
These [***] keep trying to call me and scam me as well. I curse them out and hang up. Ridiculous that no one can help stop these scumbags.
I just got a call from this number. I thought 555 was a bogus number, always used in shows and movies when they quote a phone number, so I didn't answer it. I did call it back and got a automated voice that said, "Toll free directory assistance powered by AT&T". Really? So why would directory assistance be calling me? Crazy.
I got 3 calls...first two were dead air, then the last one was a recording saying that i won a $100 credit on my bill and to go to www.bellpromotion.com and log into my account there to redeem it....Sounds fishy....didn't check out the website....probably a virus...
These nutwipes must enjoy calling/scamming. I enjoy looking at the Caller ID, seeing it is probably a scammer and NOT answering the phone. After so many such calls over so many years, it's laugh or cry. Call Block? Been there, done that, but always a new number to add. Do Not Call list? Really? The irony is that I get even more calls now than I did BEFORE the list. The "pages" for this scam number go back how far? To 2007? Seriously, nothing has gotten rid of these cockroaches! By the way, regarding the scammer's phone number info on my Caller ID-- any ideas as to what the following number is that appears at the bottom of my Caller ID: V11918210200046 ?
CID just said OUT of AREA and the phone number. 800-555-1212 is the number for Toll Free Directory Assistance. I knew that when I saw it come up on the CID. Oddly, they only let it ring ONCE and then disconnected. Obviously whoever is calling is somehow using the toll free directory assistance number in place of their own. This makes Caller ID services just as worthless as the National Do Not Call Registry. The main difference is that I PAY a monthly service charge for Caller ID. There is no solution to these problems. All I can do is encourage everyone reading this to (1 Never answer the phone if you don't recognize the name, number or location of the caller: (2) Keep your answering machine OFF when you are at home; (3) Check with 800notes or a similar online site to see what other people know; and (4) Invest in a telephone system that includes call blocking. I have a Panasonic phone system that blocks 250 numbers. I paid $90 for it on clearance at Target. I'm not endorsing this brand. I know there are many others that are just as good and probably better than what I have. Just do something to protect yourself. You don't have to be a victim.
this freaking 800-555-1212 number called 9 times in an hour ..... i called back and it didn't work so i press 1 800 555 1212 and it is a freaking directory !!! The lady said sorry sir but we had fix this problem..... I said ok you fixed this problem but WHY you keep and calling me!!!
Total SCAM CALL! Don't even bother answering. 1-800-555-1212 is an "Outbound WATTS line Directory."
i was stupid to go to website and answer all the credentials but none of which were credit card info or stuff like that. but i gave my email and name. should i be scared?
Obviously a scam, this has been a long time directory assistance number. Please take the time to report these morons to the ftc on their file a complaint form. They can't do anything unless consumers take the time to file complaints there. And yes it will take them time, but they do get these [***]. Be safe and never give any info to someone you don't know. I file complaints every call I get; cause everyone spoofs their numbers anymore. I have a call log sheet I keep updates with numbers because none of these companies follow the law. This is the only reason I still have a landline phone, everyone gets that number; NOONE gets my cell and if I get stupid calls on that I file complaints as well..... I have found that people will take my phone number from ads I have out there on Craigslist, etc and give that number pout to their debt collectors, etc.....
