I've had multiple calls from 800-745-2345 that has lasted for years. Claiming I owe an education debt @ $4K, since 1976. I have receipts "Paid-In-Full" and submitted copies of such to no affect. This organization continues to press for collections. Schooling was taken under GI Bill. Wife and I paid in full the final $4K with cashiers check; less than six years later.Problem is, if DOE has not updated records, they maintain we still owe.How to get it corrected has been an ongoing problem since 1982.Suggestions accepted. Attorneys welcome.

This is from Progressive Financial Services, a collection agency. The recorded message says "This is an urgent message for..." and then NO NAME! I made an effort to call them back and ask to have my number removed, however there was no record of my number. Computer glitch or harassment?

I am having a similar experience with the same company, except initially they left no callback number (the msg ended abrubtly). Next, they gave no name but said if I stayed on th line, I was acknowledging that I was "that person". Eventually one has to stay on the line to try to end the funny-business. I managed to get part of the return number and figure out who the company was. On 9/24/08 I called their Internet-listed number, got that employee's name, and he checked for my name & then my phone number, but came up empty. He said they were not trying to call me.The msgs continued. At some point they began giving my former spouse's name...with the usual instructions to hang up if I am not that person. Either way seems to make no difference, as I am still getting the calls as of ten minutes ago.I wonder if you are still getting calls too.

Progressive Financial was a great company to work with! My number was worng and they removed it right away.

Oh Yeah, If they are so great. How come when other people ask to have their name removed from their list they keep calling? The person they were trying to reach had the same last name has ours. No relation to them....We told them they had the wrong number or person. We thaen asked to remove our number from their list. They responed, We'll see what we can do.....They are still calling......Great my [***].

This company keeps calling and then hangs up as soon as we answer the phone, this is getting very annoying and troublesome.

Watch out for thesse liars. They called my boyfriend for a debt that was incurred by his ex-wife and it was over 12 years ago. Fortunately, we had already done our homework, and knew about the Statute of Limitations, and when he told them that it was past the SOL, they lied and said that there was no such thing. We sent them a cease and desist letter and told them never to contact him again, that it was past the SOL and that he would not pay because it was not his debt. so far this has worked... they do not want you to know your rights. They are hoping you will be ignorant and that they can bully you into paying.Do NOT talk to these losers. Make them prove the debt is yours. Learn your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. send cease and desist letters. Most important, report them for violations of the FDCPA, if they harrass you in any way. let's put these losers out of work.

Ignore them , Progressive buy lists of supposed debts from the DOE which may be collected or uncollected. You will have to hire an ATTY to get Equifax or Experian to remove it from their Credit database. With the new wording for MORTGAGE LOANS & REFINACING, you will have to find a buyer who does not have student loan debt, because they now make you sign a pledge that you don't owe before you can buy a home now! BTW you are the one paying for the phone service, Progressive is nothing but a SPAMMER.
