Yes I'm confirming that this is a scam! I just called the 800-829-1040 number, which is the real IRS, and was on hold for over an hour to talk to a live person. I finally spoke with someone and she said that scammers are having that phone number to get money from people. They threaten to contact police or take legal action. But it's all a SCAM! She said that the IRS does not operate like that.
Heavy Indian accent, claiming to be "Officer....(something)...with US Treasury. I am to call 305-507-4268 but the call on my phone came from 800-829-1040 apparently a valid IRS number surely hacked by scammers in India.
The guy name Alex Martinez but he sounds like an Indian call me and said he is from IRS, batch # this n that and scare me telling me that I owed back taxes in the amount of $3,600.00 and that the police were going to arrest me if I didn't pay today. He told me pay to federal tax card available at rite aid, cvs, seven eleven and some other stores. He uses this # 1800-829-1040 which is IRS Number. He uses another two numbers which are 202-241-1344 and 718-476-9759. Its a scam call. My question is how they use the IRS number and Why IRS not doing anything?
I have been called many times. Because of the number, I decided to answer. The caller was a male with a very heavy Indian accent. I was told he, the caller, was an agent of the IRS and the call was in regards to my being in trouble for not filing my taxes properly for the years 2000 to 2004. The amount I was told I owed was $3,500. The caller then went on to tell me ( very difficult to understand due to accent) of the penalties I would face if my case went to trial. Penalties such as: loss of home, car(s), bank account(s) etc. he then went on to tell me it would be in my best interest to resolve this matter before court became unavoidable. I informed the caller, because I knew this was a scam, that I needed to see the paperwork. He asked for my address so I gave him the address of the Anne Arundel Police Department. I hope they will understand the IRS paperwork.
I have got 7 calls just today from this # 800-829-1040 and the caller ID shows (US Internal Rev)Indian accent. claiming to be from IRS.
Received call from them Yesterday 8 call in 2 Hour did not left me massage. On Caller ID it shows as US Internal Rev same old story. Why they have to call 8 times???? Look like scammed artist ran out of money..desperate beggar.
I got a call from these people today, the good thing I didn't answer a other good thing I blocked them, I really do t have time for this. I have been scam before, so I have learned my lesson
Just got a call from 800-829-1040, answered it and a foreign gentleman asked for Mrs. _________. I told him it was me and asked how I could help him. Identified himself as "officer Jack" and when I told him that was wonderful, he immediately hung up on me. This is about the 12th call I've received from these kinds of numbers. When I answer, they hang up. What, exactly, is the scam they're trying to pull here? I'm tired of it. These people should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
Received a call from (567) 258-0651 from a man with a foreign accent stating he was from the state Attorney General's Office and that there was a legal petition for tax fraud for my name and SS3 and that the law suit was being filed today and that I should call back. I then received a call several minutes later from (800) 829-1040 that was a recording of the same exact message from the prior call. Obviously a scam!
