I received a call from the irs # which is 18008291040 a voicemail was left which was automated saying there is a lawsuit to be filed aginst you without the need of trial for a account of fraudulent or no tax filing and the subject matters acquired my immidate attention and they tell me to contact the audit department at 202 241 2589between mon through fri 9a-5p eastern standard time. they didn't mention my names or who they were looking for and they also didn't identify there self with their name or badge number. is this a scam?
I also received a call from this # and they left a recorded voicemail saying I was going to get a warrant out for my arrest if I did not call this number 727-242-5392 and I did and it is a magic jack phone number.
Just received my first ever scam call from this number, lucky I never answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. Guy did leave a message, had heavy Indian accent and I barely understood the message, but I believe there was something about threatening arrest, blah blah, blah…blocked and now on my reject list!
This number is the IRS helpline number. However, is is being spoofed by the scammers. The IRS will contact you via mail if there is a problem with your return. I know this from personal experience. I have not filed yet and do not have open tax problems from the past. They did not leave a message.
