If you are with Bell they will block up to 7 #'s free. After that each blocked number costs. Their IT Department told me that often there is a way of messing up their system. Press the # sign 5 times - hesitate - and press # two more times. That will mess up their system on their end and they likely will not call again. No promises though...
I got the call today, Tuesday September 8th from (787) 727-9284. They said I was paying more than 10% in interest in a citi credit card. They said they were from mastercard and they selected a few people to get a lower rate 6%. Why would mastercard just offer to give me a lower rate? The person with an accent asked me to verify my expiration date and then asked me to read my credit card number from beginning to end. The person on the phone did know the first few digits of the credit card. I asked how I knew this was mastercard and he said mastercard is the prime insurer and some stupid story about the banks. THIS IS A SCAM. WATCH OUT! I asked for what number I could call them back on and they said 1-800-847-2911. They referred me to mastercard.com.
I just got this call about reducing charges of my Visa card. I don't have a Visa card. I asked that they take me off their list - his response - "F*** You [***]" over and over and over again.... AMAZING - even a very long time ago when I took a job telemarketing all calls were monitored and language like that would have meant a quick march out the front door and FIRED!
When the Indian tele-scammers call, I sometimes play along. Have a bit of sport with them.I always agree to provide my credit card number, but tell them my wallet is in my car "hold on, I'll go get it". Then I put the phone on speaker phone and go about my business. After a few moments, the scammer starts yelling into the phone asking if I'm there. I say "the wallet was not in my car, but it must be in another room...hold on I'll find it. I'm really interested in lowering my rates". The idiots continue to hold for a few more minutes and start yelling into the phone again. Gets them very frustrated. Then I say "please go over the program again, I'm confused, but definitely want to lower my rates". They go into it again. Ask them to repeat multiple times becaue the connection is poor. When the scammer is done, I ask in an Indian accent "would you like me to lower your rates, I can get you an even lower rate than you offer". Confuses them. Sometimes I ask to speak with an American because I don't like Canadians. Again, this confuses/upsets them.hese people are criminals. Dont give them anything but a difficult time. But have some fun at their expense.
I just got a call from this number. I told the guy who had a very heavy accent that I don't have a credit card and then I hung up. I may be retired but I am certainly not stupid enough to fall for these scams.
The caller ID was my home phone number. I asked how they got my number and were able to use it to call me at home, and they just went into their spiel about lowering my credit card interest rate. Asked for a c/b number, and they gave me 1-800-847-2911, which I just googled and found this website. Luckily, I just hung up on them.
Got a call from a blocked number, so I picked up to get more info. I talked to 'Paul' with a heavy accent, who said they were 'Card Member Services Visa and MC' from Texas and offered to lower my interest rates. He did disclose numbers 800-847-2922 and 800-847-2911 but wouldn't give me a website. I asked for his supervisor but he said they were at lunch. I told him I was on the do not call list and to remove me from their call list. He said absolutely not. After a while, he accused me of wasting his time!!!! The conversation went on, some of more personal nature as to how old we were (he said he was 22) and where we were born (I didn't give any critical info). He said he would cancel my VISA, and I said go right ahead. Finally he said he was going to end this call and we hung up amicably.Who does this kind of work, lol??
Very vague on giving exact information on what the name of the company is....affiliated with Experian. Says he can lower my interest rate but needed the expiration date of my card. Call came in from 728-727-7879 but the call back number I was give is 800-847-2911 his name is Brandon and his employee id is 0092. Seemed very shady
I just received a call from this same number, said he was calling from Visa credit card services. I asked him about which visa and he said why your TD Visa card.....hahaha, I don't have one I told him so then he said oh I mean your CIBC Visa card....what a scam. I'm not that stupid scammers!!
