If they were for real they would send you mail. A certified letter if they want it to stand up in court. I had a credit card go bad 25 years ago and I owed $1500, the bank wrote it off but sold the paperwork so some collections company for less than a dollar, now they call me and want ot negotiate the $1500 I owe "them". Told them to send me paperwork or [***] but that continued calling me is a waste of time... So far so good, nobodys mailed me anything...
With this call blocker I have for my mobile phone it does not matter, all I have to do is select "phone book only" and if a number calls that is not on my friends list will be blocked and it also stops any unwanted text messages...............and it's free.
They called me and my answering machine picked up.I called them back to see what they wanted the women who answered asked me for my social security number when I told her no she hung up on me.
Contact the FTC and file a complaint against them I did and they will get in touch with them. That should work.

They keep pestering me on my cell phone with wanting discuss a business proposal. I have told them not to call me anymore but they keep calling and I am fed up!
They are a collection agency, very rude and will continue to call sometimes two and three times per day. They called me about a debt I supposedly owed over 10 years ago and they do not want to hear it when you tell them the debt does not belong to you. I actually had two of their people hang up on me when I told them that the debt they claim is mine is not. One of them told me that it was mine and they will continue to call me day and night until they get their money. Sometimes a person will be at the other end when they call (takes a while for them to pick up) sometimes you will get a recording asking you to call them back to discuss an important business matter. I just don't answer the call anymore. I pick it up and then hang it up.
