One question...if the number were a scam, don't you think that it would have been discovered and shut down long ago by the authorities? Scammers can't just get 800 numbers and move them around from place to place to place. And they cost money to set up and maintain. So what's the purpose in a fraudster setting up an 800 number to steal some account information?Anyone who says something this definitive has likely been shut down in their fraud practices by the investigators who work this line.

WRONG! If you get this call, call the number on the back of your card and ask if anyone tried to contact you from the fraud department. Don't just call and say, "oh my god, someone just called me, it's fraud!!!" That's open hysteria and it costs the bank money. Yes, MW, there are nasty human beings out there. Count yourself among them.

Hmmm...you gave your real phone number, but you can't figure out why they were able to pull up your account? That makes a lot of sense.Fraudulent activity will only be verified by a person who goes over recent activity with you. Just because there's nothing bad on your account does not mean that the call you received was a scam.

Most businesses don't block their numbers...unless they have hundreds of reps all calling from the same call center and none of them have direct lines to keep them from making personal calls on the businesses' dime.If you think this was a scam, have fun trying to use your card. They blocked it to make sure it was you, hon. And it will stay blocked until you confirm that, in fact, you opened the account and someone wasn't trying to steal your identity.

And you lose points for believing every little thing you read on the internet.If you don't do business on that account, sudden activity is going to make them suspicious and they're gonna call you. That is cause to be concerned because it means someone is using your account. If it's not you, then I'd think you'd want to get the matter cleared up before you look at your statement and suddenly find thousands of dollars in purchases that you didn't make.

Visa won't know what you're talking about because the department and the number are run by CHASE. And those who are so intent on making everyone believe it is a scam could very well be the fraudsters Chase is working so hard to stop. One must wonder why you're so insistent that everyone believe you.

You wouldn't receive anything from AARP or Visa, because it's actually Chase that operates the accounts AND the fraud prevention department.

It couldn't possibly be because someone else applied for that credit card with your name and other personal info.Because people just aren't that dishonest, right?

There was a private call from "Chase" to my phone, and the caller told me to call 1800 955 9060 number. It is someone putting on an accent--almost trying to be hispanic--Anyway there has been a lot of fraud on my Chase Priority Club card--including blocks to charges that didn't show up until later. Also, some person claiming to be with the Chase bank fraud investigations , "Ms. Edison" , was assigned my case from my report of theft/fraud. She ended up being very unprofessional and very odd, even to the point of telling me it's her card, not mine--Weirdo! Anyway, that's just the tip of the iceberg-but make sure all you unsuspecting people out there go by legit numbers when you call Chase. These thieves messed with the WRONG person.

This call came into my work phone on August 19, 2008. It said "this call is for Erin E. Miller re. credit card fraud. Please call 1-800-955-9060." There is no Erin Miller where I work. I called it and a recording didn't even ask who I was - just said "enter your credit card number."I thought this should be reported.
