Its not ebay. I just got off chat with ebay security. It's not for power sellers etc. Ebay said they won't call you for anything that has to do with sales. They do not have 1-801-545-1800 as any number associated with ebay
it is a real number from ebay Trust and Saftey department..i got a call from them today but i didnot pick up the phone..they left me msg and i called back to make sure it is REALLY from ebay.
i just got a call from 1-800-545-1800 and the lady said that she was calling on behalf of ebay because there making some changes with the way they bill any she said the call was being recored i said ok and then my cell lost the call and she hasn't called back. i'm thankful for the internet because i googled the number and found this site. so that you for the imoformation.
It's possible to fake caller ID information. The call I just got was just a harmless marketing call with tips and tricks for selling on ebay. I just started selling stuff in the last couple weeks.BUT it could be possible that a scammer knows this is a "legit number" and is also making calls with this as their spoofed caller ID.You can't just say someone calling from a specific number is OMG A SCAM!!1!. Listen to what they say and it will be obvious if they are legit or not. Don't give out information you don't need to give out and you will be fine.
This call is verified and legit from Ebay. They do not ask for any personal information on your account. They just give you a speal of some of ebays changes and upcomings. PEOPLE QUIT FREAKIN OUT , geez, if your paranoid then just say freakin NO, and thats that. JUST SAY NO IF YOUR UNSURE, I have never seen so many people freak out of a phone call.
This IS eBay calling! I am an eBay Power Seller and recently was asked to fill in a survey by eBay. At the end of the survey I was asked if it was ok for a customer service rep to call me with follow up questions and I checked off "yes". I got the call today and that is exactly what they were calling about. I had not given eBay a "perfect" score on some areas and they wanted me to elaborate so they can improve eBay and learn what sellers and buyers like and dislike. If you have not recently filled out a survey then they may be calling about a Trust and Safety issue (someone trying to access your account) or seller fees due etc. You can call eBay back to verify this is not a scam. Their phone number is listed on the main page under the HELP tab...follow the links to CONTACT US and you should find it.
Keeps calling about 3 times daily finally caught the number as my fax was grabbing it after 2 rings as i keep it on as my house number as unlisted. I cannot figure out how or where they got my number as i did not use this number on ebay. I plan on calling it back now and basically telling them if they call here 1 more time im calling the fraud department on them.
