I just received a call from this number and the guys said his name was David and he stuttered for about 3 seconds and hung up. I have no clue what he was talking about. The only thing I could make out was him saying this "Hi, *my name*, this is David from Ebay." after that it was a garbled mess. Just because he knew my first name, I'm not assuming it's legit. There was just a story on the news about thieves that cause any fake caller id to come up on your phone. It's called spoofing. Just cause it came up Ebay doesn't mean it actually is.If this is from Ebay then they are unprofessional. Way too many people complaining about this number. I won't be answering if they call back.If it's Ebay then I'll wait on any updates in an Email through my account, not from some random phone call.

Oh...one more thing...if you are not sure if it's eBay and the person asks for some info you aren't sure you should give out just remember, eBay HAS all your info! Only give enough to verify that you are the correct person, name, address, phone number, answer to your security question etc. If the caller asks for any banking info, credit card info etc. HANG UP immediately and contact eBay directly and let them know someone is phishing!!

I received a call from this number after 9pm on a Sunday, no legitimate company is going to do that. From the varied reports here I can only come to the conclusion that there is a scammer out there that has found a way to put up a false caller ID number (yes, it's possible), and they found a legitimate eBay number to use to try and mess with people. Since I have my notification preferences turned off, I do not believe the call I received was from eBay and I'm glad I didn't answer it. All I can say is BEWARE. If you get a call and feel uncomfortable with their questions, HANG UP! DO NOT give out any personal information, account information, or anything that you aren't comfortable giving a stranger.

Call is from ebay letting me sellers know about the upcoming changes...just left a URL on my voicemail.

No, actually, since we are power sellers on ebay, we get numerous calls from ebay about special promotions, or any changes that they are making on ebay, as far as fees, listings, etc. It's ok. At least for us, this number is fine.

I just got a call from this number, it was a call following up with a resume that I submitted to ebay.

I am a 10 year eBay employee. All eBay employees in the (801) area code of Salt Lake City have numbers ranging from 545-1801 to 545-2700. When an employee calls outbound the system masks their direct extension behind the (801) 545-1800 number. If you call (801) 545-1888, you'll get a company number. It's real people, calm down...

I just got the call and her name was Barbara and said Ebay was updating changes and I may need to make changes on my side.
