this number is legit...they had all my information that i remeber filling out and needed to know some other stuff like if my daughter was deaf and what state/country we were born in...took two minutes and im done with it
Yes, they called me yesterday. Today, on the cell also..saying they are census. The guy called twice..second time I didn't answer very nice. Third call immediately after call was a woman saying they have a right.I looked up reverse look up.It's a land lineFloyd countySellersburg Indiannaand another said Jeffersonville Indy
They probably call once a day. One would think they would get tired of talking to my answering machine. I have no doubt at all that this is a scam.
Okay, I called the 888-817-2153 number back and it is a legitimate census bureau number. They had mistakenly associated my phone number with a similar address in a town a few miles from me. I've actually had this problem before with UPS deliveries since both towns have streets with the same name in the same county. I live in a small town that doesn't have residential mail delivery. I have to pick my mail up at the post office. So whenever someone uses the USPS address database to verify my address they always end up with the address in the other town. Anyway, to make a long story short, the census bureau was doing a follow-up on a survey form they sent to the other town address and hadn't received back, but somehow associated my phone number with the other address. They were courteous, thanked me for clearing it up, and said I shouldn't be hearing from them anymore.
They call at least twice a day claiming to be the Census Bureau. I find it odd that they are calling my cell phone number. If it is legit, they can call my home or send somethig in the mail. I have asked them not to call me again, but that doesn't seem to matter. I just keep ignoring the calls now.
If it's required by law then they are going to have to show proof of identity. Funny how you think I'm supposed to believe you when for all I know you are part of the scam!
I just got a call from this so-called Census Bureau. They left a message on my answering machine to call them back with a case number, I was suspicious, so I Googled it. Funny, if they are a Government agency, why are they calling on a Saturday? I too, will block them.
there was a woman who was coming to my house asking different question from the cencus. she had id and paper work a laptop! omg! i allowed her to come to my home and sit down and talked. she was very nice (ya think?) then i got mail from the census priority mail. questions were personal! now they have my address now and other personal info. i am so angry at myself for falling for this bs!
