Recieved a call from this numer saying my debit caards were deactivated because of a security flaw and if I wanted to activate them I could press one now . I did not press one -I hung up and tried to call the phone number back. Fraud and scams everywhere

I live in Walla Walla, WA. I got this same phone call from 1-817-688-7853. I called the alternate number listed in a previous post to this thread. A lady answered the phone and said Berton was not available. I left my name and number with her and told her that he tried to call me and I was just calling him back. I have not received a returned call. I called my bank and reported this incident to them. I also called AT&T and filed a complaint with them. Then I called Walla Walla Police Dept. They said they have received two dozen reports on this same number. The dispatcher had it memorized he has taken it in so many times today. Call your bank, call your local police dept. Call AT&T, this number belongs to them. You might also call your phone service provider. Let these entities know that you have been victimized and you want action taken.

that's ok. it's 4am here, and I just got a call from them!!! I hung up because I just watched yesterday on the news it was a scam!!

Why hasn't this phone # been shut down? I got this same kind of call but of course gave no information. Since it's obviously fraudulent and going on for quite some time now, why can't it be stopped?

A robocaller phone phishing attempt saying an ATM card with a bank I do not have any accounts with is about to expire.

Well, it looks like they are "hitting" SE Washington state. I'm trying to file a report, but that doesn't look very promising either.

My wife's phone and mine rang at the same time a few minutes ago. Suspecting it was fraud, I played along and entered bogus numbers. They asked for the 16-digit card number, the 3-digit verification code, and my PIN. They then paused to "verify my card" and (what-a-shock) my card was verified. Hell of a trick given that I made up a bunch of numbers. Someone MUST do something about this.
