My husband received the same automated call when I was out of the house asking him to press 1 because of security problems with our credit card. He did not press 1.

I got a call late this evening -- 10:30pm from this number giving the whole "debit card has been deactiviated due to fraud issues at the credit union earlier today" (& they named the correct c.u. I use, scary) I didn't press "1" to further the call & the line finally went dead. Reporting to C.U. & police in the morning.

I totally agree with J. Never do anything with these calls. Hang up and call the bank or credit union "yourself". I received this call and it was a credit union I DO HAVE an ATM card with. I hung up and planned to check out the number on-line and then call my credit union. I found all of your messages and confirmed my first guess...SCAMMM!!!

Thank you for the info on the police coming to investigate. Good to know!!! After I got the call, I called my Credit Union where my ATM card is and they had a standard message playing on their number saying they are investigating this SCAM, they are aware of it and do not give your number out to anyone. Stay on the line if you did so we can take the necessary action to protect your account.

We got the ATM/debit card phishing scam robo-call on June 16, 2010 (at 12:42 a.m central time!), purportedly regarding our card from a local credit union that we do not even belong to.817-688-7853 is the number that turns up on caller ID, but the originator just pretends this is the number calling you -- it is called "spoofing" when the scammers mask their real phone number.
