Got a call from this number saying that a card from some credit union (I don't belong to any CUs) was deactivated due to a breach. Asked for card number, exp dat, security code & pin number. This has to be a SCAM!!!! If you suspect anything call you bank yourself using the info on your card. NEVER enter personal info from a cold call.
I GOT A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER ON 4/21/10, BUT WHEN I PICKED IT UP, NOBODY WAS THERE ON THE OTHER END.
Received a call from this No. told me my card had been de-activated due to being stolen I hung up.Call march 8 2010 @ 7:39. mountain time
They called my cell phone. How on earth did they get my number? My rates are high enough as it is, this is BS. These frauds need to get shutdown!
My husband and I received a call on our cell phones from 817-688-7853 at 1:23am and 1:34am on 3/27/2010. When I returned the call it says "the number you have dialed is not a working number".
I just got a call from this number. It said that my debit card had been deactivated and to press 1 to go to security services to reactivate it. It's a scam. I hope no one falls for it. They even called my cell! If they call anyone, it ought to be the home.
VERY GOOD QUESTION SINCE THE INFORMATION ON THIS PERSON IS SO EASILY OBTAINED, MAYBE WE ALL SHOULD START CALLING HIS ALTERNATE PHONE NUMBER?
Same story, Call from (877) 688-7853. Computer voice saying my Gesa Credit card has been deactivated due to security breach. Obviously a scam since I don't have Gesa credit card, none the less I entertained pressed 1 to go to security department to see what Information I can gather. Unfortunatelly it's just a recording with no way to get to operator. Upon calling the number back, it says phone number is not in service. Caller Id comes through as TX
I just got a call from this # but didn't get to it in time. However, I got a call the other day--same thing about a credit card I do not own. Two hours later the guy remodeling a room in my home got the same call, same card. Contractor has never called me before or vice versa (he calls landlord) so # not spamed from my phone... I called Sprint and reported it because we both have Sprint service. They had already received some calls and were working on blocking that number. Now I have another to report. Can the police do anything?
I got in touch with ATT over the scam, and they couldn't be more helpless. Even after explaining that their security department is in the best position to find where the call came from, they told me to contact police, and as we see from the previous post police won't do anything since no crime hasn't been committed until I give out my Card & SSN...So Let me get this straight. Knowing this is a scam, I have to give out my credit card info SSN and what have you to the scammer, so that I can in turn contact the authorities, because actual crime has been comitted - That's just GREAT!
