He said he was from my "Email security department" and was going to freeze my email account due to suspicious activity and possible cyber crime unless I called this number. Did not even mention the name of my email account carrier.
this number keeps calling repeatedly. I do not know anyone in this area code, does leave a automated recording letting me know about some services being cancelled if i don't return the call.. totally a scam.
I received a similar voicemail from Mr. Michael Stance. He said it was a law enforcement issue and that he is from the Dept of Legal Affairs. The accent was so strong that it was hard to be sure what he was saying.
I got a call from this number asking to speak to my husband and telling me legal action was being taken against him. I said oh do you want me to pay you some money to clear this up. he asked if we got a letter. he said we need to call the number and talk to Larry Rogers. I said oh I think I need to talk to John Smith! I said you are a scam and everyone knows it. he hung up.
Also just received a call from this number (818-937-1186). Bogus. Strong accent. Said they were from the Department of Legal Affairs, no need to have a lawyer........do NOT call back.
Got a call for my son (ironically an attorney and no longer lives here) from Shawn Williams, Department of the Treasury about a "legal matter". He gave me 818-937-1186 for him to call back. I decided to play along and asked about an 800 number since it would cost my son money to call, he said the above number was a direct line -- ha ha Shawn, I said an 800 number would transfer my son to Shawn. As soon as I said that I thought it was a scam an until he could provide information that it wasn't, I would not give my son the information. It's amazing how quickly he hung up!
Just received a call from this number from a heavily accented person named Michael. I could not hear the last name. He stated he was from the Department of Legal Affairs and is warning me about law enforcement action under my name and to call back with my lawyer.My caller ID shows Glendale, CA.
Caller wanted to talk to my wife who was not home. Told me it was a legal affair with the US Treasury and to have her call her back. He had an Indian accent. Check a website and this was a phishing call.
I just received same call from that number...broken English couldn't understand what the deal was but said I should call back and something about my attorney
