Can you tell me how to find out if they are licensed to collect in the state of Indiana? Thanks!

I received a call from a woman, sorry I don't remember her name. Stating she was with Summit Receivables and she was calling about a loan that was taken out with my checking account. Here is the problem, I have never had a checking account and have not taken a loan out. I tried to patiently discuss this with her. She started to yell at me and insist that I did take the loan out. I explained I have not taken a loan out and do have never had a checking account. I then then asked that this be looked into, in case someone has used my information. She then told me "good luck with your future, I will be turning in the papers" then hung up on me. I find this strange. If this was my debt, obviously I want to take care of it. But why yell at me and then hang up.

You go to the Indiana website that lists licenses for debt collectors and enter the company name and it takes you to the listing that shows where they are licensed.

A call yesterday from Andrew on 9/18/17, this morning Ms. William both from 713-242-1589, message was left that info came across her desk and I should call her back at1-844-498-6545 from summit receivables.

I got the same exact automated message but I've never actually spoken with anyone from there office. There not listed on any of my credit reports either sounds like a scam.

Called from 561-220-1153 but the voicemail told me to call 844-498-6545.Debt collector. Likely a scam as it called my office's business line.

8444983388 this number is a scam by fall for it. The government will not call you. They mail letters.

They called me and said that they bought two of my loans, I told them I wanted to pay my debts and tried to work out an arrangement with them. A lady named Melody and a man named John told me they did not care what my situation was and that if I could not give them the money amount they told me, that I would be sorry and threatened me. I asked them to send me information of who they were, they continued to tell me that I would be sorry and if I wasn't going to pay the money they said, they were going to take legal action. This is not how debt collectors normally act, and even more considering the fact that I was trying to set up an arrangement to pay my debt with the company I owe it too. I think they are a scam or something. Or just a really awful company. The people are rude and very uneducated.

Thank you, have you had to deal with these people before? How am I supposed to pay money I owe back to the place I owe it? I don't trust these people or the place I owe if they gave them my information.
