these fools call me day and night. i havent answered their call i 3 yrs..they just dont get it.

Many times i have told these people not to call me, they call at 8am and several other times during the day. They never stop

Perhaps, finding out the company name and addresss and reporting them to the local BBB would help. It's worked for me in the past.

I would think that any legitimate debt collector would leave a message when they called. Since no one ever leaves a message from this place, they won't ever get to talk to me!

Informed person~ unfortunately, they are a real collection agency; they just use really sneaky and illegal tactics to get their money. I believe the reason they don't leave a message is because once they do, that is considered "contact" and therefore, they can't call you again 8 million times because after 1 contact they can't call again for another 3 days (I believe it's three days). They'd rather just drive you crazy until you pick up the phone. As you can see from the forum thread, they have MANY MANY numbers, they also use at least (that I've heard) two different recordings for their messages with two different voices, that way they can call and leave messages two days in a row and you won't know it's them. They're insidious. It's a wonder how they are still allowed to operate in the U.S.A. I believe if you google "Portfolio Recovery" and "lawsuit" together, something will come up. They even drive you crazy if the debt is legit and you are faithfully repaying it if you refuse to give them your bank info. BTW, if the debt is legit for you, and you agree to pay them, send them money orders only, because they have been known to wipe out people's bank accounts on them. Oh, and make sure you check your state's statute of limitations because they are also known for trying to collect on "zombie" debts.

Peeps, write your local representative and ask them to take action. It's "free" with your already paid tax dollars.

I enjoy calling them back and leaving it on mute...of course I block my number. Let them get the calls for a change. Another attempt at reaching a debt that is under 200 from over a decade ago. Douche-chiil
