Actually they will. It's called offer and settlement. They are trying to save you and the plan money. The physicians in the ER that aren't contracted are charging way more that U&C and the insurance company tries to reduce that cost for your group plan.
I received something in the mail about it. Sorry but I dont trust these phone calls and will never provide information over the phone no matter their accent or not. I am getting phone calls every morning from them. Told her to send me an email. We are handling it through our insurance company.
I have also received numerous calls from this number. We didn't answer so I am not certain what they wanted. However, after reading all of these comments I feel like Cigna has definitely been hacked. We have Cigna, and my son did visit the ER in October. The bill for an ER physician place named Appleseed Emergency Physicians was paid according to what the EOB from Cigna showed I owed. I don't intend to pay another penny. If they rightly deserve more money - then they need to contact the insurance company. I feel like this is a scam! I also wonder if this emergency physicians group isn't a little shady. I do remember at one point receiving a letter from them (prior to receiving a bill or EOB from Cigna) stating that the insurance had underpaid. They were asking me to reach out to Cigna to have them re-process the claim at a higher rate. I ignored it because I have no intention of ever paying more than my EOB says they should charge me.
They called twice last week saying that it was an important message about my health insurance. It sounded like it was a phone center in India. They would not say what unless they got my birthdate. I refused and hung up.
It appears you are part of the scam. If this was legit the insurance company will be a good source of validation not the small print on paper
received a call from these folks today. wanted to verify my birthdate and of course I refused. They said they were calling on behalf of Cigna, and would not tell me why. I checked with my HR dept. and Cigna and these folks are a scam. Do not give them any personal information
It is interesting how many times CIGNA has popped up here as the insurance carrier. I too have the CIGNA, I got the letter, and I am getting the calls. I checked my CIGNA account. These ER doctors attempted to bill out almost $10K for prescribing an IV with antibiotics, and then discharging me. A doctor never actually laid a hand on me. Totally absurd. Of course CIGNA shouldn't pay that.
Same here. I asked the man what it was about, and he refused to give me any information until I gave him "gabba shamdigrop"... He also called me in the early evening. I told him to call back during normal business hours, and hung up.
BTW, the man said he was from "EMCare", about all I could understand from him. EMCare is a job finding site for medical professionals, not a medical collection agency as he implied to me.
