My number is also on the WI and USA Do Not Call lists, and still got the call - during my lunch break. Good thing for Caller ID.

the DNC can only flag a pots/landline # like this area code 858 one if enough people call and complain. otherwise,your Aunt Maude's or Mr. Big Boss's number could be blocked. originally the DNC was for targeting toll free #'s (800,877, 888, etc) that telemarketers used. now they are buying local #'s (usually from third parties, not the big phonecompanies) to make it harder to block. assuming people, too, that answer don't have caller ID. for me, I pay extra for caller ID, told family and friends to call me on my mobile phone and turned off my answering machine on my landline.unfortunately, they still call but I'm now good at ignoring the ring. hope this helps.

Missed this call on my cell. It came from La Jolla, California. No message left & I too am on the National do not call list.

I know it is annoying to have to deal with unwanted calls especially when you are on the useless DNC. Reporting those callers to the FCC don't help either. The most response I ever got out of the FCC was an roboemail saying I could pursue charges against the caller on my own if I wanted to. Who's got the time and resources? Besides, earlier this year I met a woman who had recently quite her miserable job as a telephone solicitor and I admit I have a new sympathy for some poor shlep trying to earn a buck. First they sat at a computer and waited for a script to pop up resulting from an answered call. The script could be anyone of a number of different number. They found too often the script was for a cause that they wouldn't personally support and most of the answered calls resulted in a loud hangup or a angry voice say get me off your list. The problem was the solicitor had no idea who had been called or what the number was, yet 99% of the time the person refused to give out their number in order to be removed.

Another scam call. These people do not care about DNC laws. They are crooks who use the phone instead of gun to rob you of your money and personal information. Never answer calls from people whose name and phone number you do not recognize . If it someone who wants to s/w you they will leave a message. You can almost tell it is telemarketer calling since they usually let the phone ring three times and then hang up.
