Just received phone call from this number. Refused to say anything when my husband answered the phone. This is my elderly in-laws home phone and I'm sure they were attempting to scam them. We returned the call only to be auto disconnected after ringing once.
Got a call from this # a little bit ago while writing a report on another stupid scam call. Did not answer of course. Man, these people never give up! Hope they all get caught!
This sounds like a SCAM. From the many posts, the caller is identifying as representing lots of different companies including St.Jude, Salvation Army, Food For The Hungry, Habitat for Humanity, Eco California, a home improvementcompany, Holt International and MDS Communications - a professional fundraising organization for non-profit organizations. However, a couple of weeks ago, people were getting the exact same calls from 877-291-1624, which is a spoofed number. Sounds like a SCAM
Rec'd a call from this number. There was no person on the other end. They said nothing. After about 30 seconds, it hung up.
I just received a call from this number. Just a guess but sound like an auto dialer trying to determine whether the number called is an valid number. If a person answers they knew it is a good number then in return sells the information to telemarketers. They will never answer because it is a machine doing the calling. I don't think the telephone industry has the capability to stop this. A big pain in the butt. My suggestion is not to answer any calls unless you recognize the number or let it go to voice mail. If voice mail does not pick it up you know it was a auto dialer.
Third call today that had been scammed. Using caller ID to say it was someone we know but call actually from Florida or California and do not respond when picked up.
858-412-0172 called and hung up. I call back several times until I got through and a recording said they were a fundraising company called MDS Communications. I personally thing they do work also for debt collectors to gather information about you. Don't trust em.858-412-0172
reply to former MDS employee. If you think I believe a word of your comments, I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale. If they are so legit, why don't these people (scammers) EVER leave a message?????
