This number called me this morning on my work phone. The number belongs to Gordon and Schwenkmeyer, Inc., a "Commercial Fundraiser" for charities regarding women, the environment and other mostly liberal groups. According to a government database they collected $884k in 2014 but only contributed $80k to charities. Though, I agree with their political leanings, I will NOT be donating any money to them.
Caller ID says "PPFA". They leave no message.I call back after business hours (using *67 to block my number). Their outgoing message is, "Thank you for calling GSI, the call center working with Planned Parenthood Federation of America. If you were recently contacted by GSI, it is probably because you've been identified as a member or supporter of Planned Parenthood. Please, feel free to leave a message after the tone including your phone number so that we may server you better. Thank you." (I leave no message).I suspect this call is what it claims to be. If you are so inclined to give to PP, please, do so through their webpage. Do not encourage the telemarketers who likely take a substantial portion of your donation.
I just called the number back. It said it was GFI-the call center for the league of women voters.
No message left; I, too, have blocked (and later deleted from my list) this one before. Fortunately, my service allows me to block entire area codes, which I now do, because most telemarketers/survey agencies/etc. have multiple lines so they just use a different one if one is blocked. Love area code blocking! Huzzah!
