Really, there is no basis to sue these slimeball bottom-feeders for calling our house a few times a week. The legislation enabling them and other dreck like them was passed by the Best Congress Money Can Buy in the wake of one of our many Big Finance scandals. So long as they do not call outside the hours of 8am and 9pm, do not call more than twice in any one day, and --since the state atty. general office got involved, they must show their name in caller ID, they are not harassing me. I have never written to direct them to cease calling. The dopey lawyer, Pearson, volunteered the statement that they had "decided to cease collection efforts" when he was forced to reply to a letter I had sent them asking for verification of the debt (which, by their own admission is not verifiable). Why should I bother to spend my time and other resources suing them so long as they remain within these boundaries? One day, when I tire of warning others about them online, I may send a "cease and desist" letter, and if they ignore that, then I would sue them, after they had violated it enough times to get the settlement amount up :-)

You should not have to put up with this nonsense. When my BIL was dying of metastatic cancer two years ago, PRA called and demanded to speak to him. My sister told them he was under Hospice care, to leave him alone and hung up on them. They never called back. Send them a letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requested demanding they stop calling, your partner is deceased and has no estate. If they continue calling, you can sue them for harassment.

I am so tired of having to block all of their different numbers that they are calling me from. I think this is now the 18th number I have blocked. They are calling from all over the US and there has got to be some sort of law against them calling from so many different numbers. They are very annoying...call almost every day from a different number, do not leave a message, and call all hours of the morning and evening. I thought callers like this could not call before 9am and not after 9pm? They have called just a few min before 9am at times and a little past 9pm also. I am not answering their calls because I do not owe anything. If I owe anything to anyone, the call should be coming from who I owe, not these annoying people. Wish they could be stopped because all of their numbers are going to be the ones taking up all the spaces allowed on my phone block list.

Portfoolio! I thought they had forgotten about me. Had not called in a week. This is call #577 !!!! since their dopey lawyer wrote me a letter four years ago stating, in black and white print on the page, that they had "decided to cease collection efforts" on some unverified and admittedly (by him) unverifiable debt from 1997. These vermin are in serious need of being closed down. How awful if ISIS should bomb their lair in Norfolk, VA.

Dont know who these people are other than what is stated in the notes above. If this is a debt collector, it is a scammer. I have never defaulted on any debt and owe no one anything. They call at least once weekly and I never answer an unknown caller.

Calls from portfolio every single day including Sundays. I do not speak with any debt collector over the phone. They never leave a voicemail. They should pound sand up there you know what. Calls will get no where with me

These sleazy [***] can fake any area code they like. Even you can with a $2/month Magic Jack. Don't think they are hiring out of state scammers. They post whatever area code and number they want to.

HELLO - in the over decade that the gov issued the do not call list has anyone figured out it means nothing? I keep seeing "ohhhhh i'm on the dnc list" well LOL and where has that got you and the millions!
