"Rex" from "Aetna" REPEATEDLY called our office every 10 seconds until I finally got tired of them tying up my phone line! "Rex" wanted to verify that our doctor was "practicing @ (our office address), wanted to know if we are "accepting new patients" and then asked if our office is "accepting patient appointments". This is dumb, b/c OBVIOUSLY we are accepting patient appointments if we're accepting new patients! So I called "Rex" out on her exceptionally odd question. She just kept repeating how she now has all the information she needs. I reminded her that what she's going is illegal b/c she refuses to answer any of MY questions. Loooooooooooong story short, I threatened to report them to the FCC for failure to provide me with their call back # and refusing me the opportunity to speak to her supervisor. Suddenly supervisor "Alex" was available (he/she was previously "outside"). "Alex" also refused to tell me who she works for, refused to provide me with her call back #, then she went online to find Aetna's corportate headquarters phone # and told me to call them. She finally admitted that she DOES NOT WORK for Aetna and Aetna's "partners" are confidential information. SCAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! DO NOT ANSWER
Caller says it's just a courtesy call from Aetna, then proceeds to ask for my date of birth. Red flag! So I ask, "what's this about? I don't know of any business I have with Aetna." I can hear her flipping through some papers, then she mentions a nursing home that happens to be in my area, but I have never been a patient there. I say, "you must have the wrong person," and she says "Sorry!" and quickly hangs up. Was this a scam attempt, or just an honest mistake?
They asked for me by my first name. I did not recognize the number so I asked if I could take a message. They said it was from Aetna and left a number for me to call...which I did not write down because I have no idea why Aetna would be calling me, and they did not say Aetna US Health Care...just Aetna.
Wanted to verify our company's demographic information, and started by saying our Tax ID number. I stated that I'm not comfortable giving it out over the phone. She said she would send a fax instead, and asked what number to send it to, and to who's attention. This I gave her, but I still have a bad feeling about it. We normally do business with Aetna, but we supply them with updated information every year. I don't see why they would be calling for it.
So you really have no idea who it was. And you gave them a valid fax#? Get ready to be bombarded with junk faxes!
Think someone's hijacked this number, just got a call from it today where the woman said she was from fedex and wanted to know if I was happy with their service
I got a call saying it was from Fedex asking for a Kevin...When I call back, I get a message that it is Aetna.
I got this call and Aetna showed up in my caller ID. An automated voice asked for my date of birth. Since I was at the doctors yesterday, I gave it, since I thought that there was a problem with the insurance. But I was suspicious and did not give my phone number (didn't they call me?) Eventually, the line went dead. What is this about? Can't Aetna prosecute someone for using their caller ID?
Received a call from this number, and they left a message stating very clearly that they were calling from Aetna regarding free additional benefits that come with my (stated my employer's name) company insurance. Seemed very legit to me. They left an 800 number for me to call them back if i was interested in hearing additional information about the courtesy benefits i receive with my company insurance.
