I have gotten multiple calls from "computer services" - today is the first time I answered and, only after I asked several questions, was told that he was from Geek Squad and that my computer has a virus. I thanked him for that information and hung up.
Thank you for all your posts about this number. I hardly answer numbers I don't know and this is one I'll be sure to block.
True, they called my wife's phone I picked up they said they got word my computer was infected. Offered me a free one time diagnosis. This is a fraud they get to sell you computer program that just gives them free access to your computer every time ur on the internet and it could cost you everything in your bank account. Tell them to stop calling and call them a fraud they will stop calling after that. They also have other 800 numbers including 000-000-0000 and three or four others. At first I was just ignoring them but then they kept calling so I am now answering there calls letting them speak and tell me why they are calling then I tell them not to call me and call them a fraud. Because the true computer companies won't call you till you call them first.
Do not be fooled! Do not do anything these guys ask you to do!These people are trying to get you to give them control of your computer. At first they say they are getting notifications from your computer that it has been infected. Wrong. Then they tried to convince me that because some of my services were not running, this was evidence of infection. Wrong again. They will try to tell you that the infection will continue until all of your services are stopped and your computer will no longer function. They will also tell you that every device on your home network will become infected. All of this is just to scare you into giving them control... just don't do it!If you are an experienced professional computer person, you might get some amusement by playing along with them for a while. If you are not experienced, just tell them you know it's a scam and hang up.
So I got a call yesterday shortly after logging into a conference room computer in my office. They rang my conference room number! Then seconds later I get a call on my cell from the same people! I felt like I was in a scene from Minority Report. How the hell did they know where and when I was logging in?I was using a ssd thumb drive. Someone in the office mentioned there have been instances of these being shipped with viruses. However, I had not opened any files on this drive prior to the call. But I have experienced some weird issues with accessing the files since my encounter.
Answered and nothing for 10 seconds then disconnected. I called the number back and auto message saying the number is no longer in service.
Typical Computer access SCAM!!! Interesting how fast they hung up when mentioning that I would love them to show up at the house as I am a former FEDERAL employee.
this phone number is full of [***] ,first of all buy a call blocker from amazon for 39.99 , I did and it works great and easy to use... this phone caller will try to rip you off and anything they can. they are full of fraud and will tell you your computer is not working right when you don,t even have a computer ,( they are [***] holes to the fullest degree possiable .. just block the call with the blocker , the unit can block up to 1500 calls using a eprom system, great product for the [***] holes...
