We received a call on our cell phones as well as our house phone (not from this number), text alert and email alert from Chase alerting us to unusual activity. Turned out to be two fraudulent charges and they were immediately reversed and we were told to cut up the debit card. Within a week a new card arrived and no further unauthorized activity affected our account. Then this week we got two of the emails mentioned. Being skeptical I called Chase and was informed any time a questionable email is received--obviously one that appears to come from Chase--the recipient can simply forward it to abuse@chase.com and the fraud department will look into it and/or inform you of its validity.
I got two emails from Chase Customer Claims Secure Document Exchange about a claim and how my documents are ready for review. I did have a recent claim when my debit card was used fraudulently and a new card issued, so on the surface it matches up.BEFORE calling the number or clicking on the web site link provided I recommend that anybody receiving these emails check with Chase Bank through their official web site www.chase.com to verify if this is legitimate.
Got a text message on my iPhone from "337-48" this morning:"FreeMsg: Chase acct 0786: $610.84 temporary credit given for claim (gives a 15-digit number). Questions? 866-564-2262. Reply STOP to end msgs or HELP."1st big dead giveaway that this is a FALSE message: the last four digits of the supposed account number do not match ANYTHING I have to do with Chase.2nd big dead giveaway: I get daily updates on my account from Chase and this messages doesn't have the same format or verbiage Chases uses. But, to be SURE, I didn't call the number nor did I click on the link that was the phone number (which my iPhone would simply dial). I went to my computer and logged into my account at Chase, looked at my accounts and message center. Nothing. I called Chase and the rep took a look into my account. He noted the same thing. I asked him about the phone number provided in the message and he said it was a legit number to their Claims Department and suggested I call them to see what they know. After a little research, the Claims rep determined that the Claim # pulled up a LEGIT claim but the client info was completely different than mine. It was determined that the client attached to that claim USED TO HAVE MY CELL PHONE NUMBER.So, this was a LEGIT message, but errantly delivered due to the fact that phone numbers get recycled.IF YOU GET ANYTHING LIKE THIS, it pays to spend a few minutes to log into your account online and check it and/or call Chase directly using one of their established customer service phone numbers and talk to a rep.
I received an email from the supposed Chase Claims Dept. regarding a claim but they had the wrong name on the email. I called the number 866-564-2262 and told them. They asked my name and I foolishly gave it to them. The woman sounded legitimate and helpful and apologized profusely. She said the claim number was for a different person and sorry it was sent to my email. I am agonizing over it now because I'm afraid they will get info on me and use it fraudulently. It seems it 's too late now!
I received email saying I had a message regarding a disputed charge on my account. A few months ago I did have a disputed amount but it was already resolved. I went to my Chase web page and there are no unread messages. I cross referenced the phone number given and found all these comments from other people who apparently had the same thing happen to them!
866-564-2262, Two calls within one hour of each other. No message. It is a mystery number for me; I know no one.
this is the right no. for claims. the secure email wont ask for a password on your banking account. the password will be sent to u by email right after the call.
If you get an email from chase_customer_claims@secure-dx.com telling you to follow a link for claims documentation and this number is attached, it's all legit. If you're still skeptical, call Chase independently using the number on the website and they'll verify it too.
