I had the same call, When I called my bank that I have my card through, They told me they had no clue who the call could have been and closed my account just to make sure I was secure.
I've been receiving calls for the past 3 months from this number. My US Bank account is current and in good standing. They never leave a message and will call three or four times in succession, and call every day of the week, including weekends. It borders on harrassment and has become more than annoying.
Making it a scam. If a credit card company isn't asking for information for verification and is continue calling after the payment was completed, there is something wrong. Go to your bank and see if it is documented, if not, there is a good chance you were scammed.
I get multiple calls from 877-838-4347 per day. I looked it up and saw that it was US Bank, which was confusing because I didn't know of any credit cards that I have from US Bank. I thought it might be helpful for other folks to know that it turned out they were calling about my Toyota credit card, which is about two weeks past due. While I think it's an aggressive call schedule for two weeks past due, and while I wish they'd left a message identifying themselves so I knew why they were calling for the past two weeks, it did turn out to be legit (in my case). I didn't give them any identifying information; just asked which card they were calling about, then looked it up myself through my online access to that account. The rep with whom I spoke was courteous and professional and didn't give me a hard time about wanting to look it up myself rather than giving her any identifying info. She only needed the phone number they were calling me on in order to tell me it was a Toyota card that they were calling about. It would be super-helpful if there was a place to find all the various companies that issue credit cards under "US Bank;" if I'd known they represent Toyota, I could have put the situation to rest much more quickly.
I have been getting calls from them for a month, two or three times a day. They are looking for Maxwell and no matter how many times I have explained to them that there is not, nor ever will be a Maxwell here, they persist. It has devolved into a recreational call for me. I just received a call a few minutes ago. When I answered "Maxwell speaking" and they launched into their speil about the credit card payments I simply said "Sorry, I no speak goot enuf English" and hung up. The next time they call, and they will yet today, I will tell them that Maxwell is tending the still and cannot leave the brew to come to the phone. Of course if it is a woman that calls, I may just tell her I caught Maxwell having sex with another man and kicked his butt out. I am starting to write down scenarios, this should be fun, at least for me and my warped sense of humor.
