This post is very sanctimonious, but does not address those of us receiving repeated calls on work or cell phones despite not being the account holder in question. I have as good or better credit than you and all your friends and don't appreciate these harassing calls. There is no defense of repeated calls. I would hope that it is not legal. I received three calls in one day. Each time I told them that they have the wrong number. Unfortunately, they keep calling. So if you don't mind prefacing the 'you do it yourself' comment with IF YOU ARE THE PERSON IN QUESTION and COMPLETELY REMOVING #2, then you post will be valid
Im confused, are these guys trying to take my money or sell me something? I dont know where this money is that I supposedly owe, and I dont have it or wont for a couple days BLEH I dont know but im scared
ummm - I don't have a USBank credit card or bank account. My cell phone was called. This cell is just a year old and I only use it for emergencies only, I don't have a data plan on it, and it is not attached to my hip. A simple call out phone for me to contact family, if needed, and for them to call me. So no one has my name or cell phone number on any records. Now, I am not saying if the number was at one time belonged to someone else (recycled number); but I do not answer any numbers on my cell (or my home) that I don't recognize. If they don't leave a message and I know that message is legit, I don't respond. Unfortunately my phone is a pay as you go; and they use up my minutes calling, which is frustrating.
I think this is legit. I received several calls and ignored them for a couple days. The answering system for this number only says "Cardmember services" and asks for your account number. I was hesitant on doing so, so I called the number on the back of my credit card instead and it sounds the same. Turns out I missed a payment on my US Bank card because I didn't receive a statement. Called them up and got it taken care of. No problems, lady was very nice to talk to. The answering system really should say it is US Bank. It would have made things a lot easier and I would have called them back sooner. I'm sure some people don't call back at all thinking it is bogus, I almost didn't. I almost put a block on the number.
automated message. asked for last 4 of social security. message said they were rei visa and i have a 42.00 payment due june 4. i have no idea who rei visa is and i do not have an account with them.
I repeat, I did not give my credit card information at this number, but the answering machine on the number on the back of my card sounds the same and that's the number I called.
This number seems legit. They called me because my REI Visa account was past due, which it was. Just to be sure, I hung up before giving them any information. Then I called my credit card company to confirm the number was legit. They actually transfered me back to this number, so I know it was legit. I paid my account and went on my way.
A legitimate company would leave their name and number on the answering machine. And if you are legit, then they would send a letter in them mail as well. So screw you!
