I receive a call from this number 888-123-4567 almost every day about 11 AM. It's always from a credit card scam where they want to know personal information. When the call Call arrives a recording asks you to dial "1" to speak to a person. If I wait a long time listening to these instructions, then that person will try to sell me a credit card. If I don't listen to the whole message and immediately depress the "1" key on the telephone then the person will hang up on me. My guess is that the person sees how long The victim waited to dial "1" and if the time is too short he or she knows you didn't listen to the whole intro-messageThe management/owner of this outfit must be twisted! Why would they want to waste their time calling only to irritate people whom thr've irritated before, instead of irritating /Cheat new people, ones they never called before.
I get called at least 2 times per day from 888-123-4567. If I pick up there is no one there.
I have received as many as 6 phone calls from this number a day. When I answer, I either have someone ask for my husband and when told he is not here, this person hangs up or I'll answer and there is no response.
We get a call from this number several times a day but no one leaves a message. We have been on the no call list since it started, I thought it would stop these type of calls. I filed a complaint with them but it did not help. Why can,t someone do anything about these unwanted calls?
Got this call a few minutes ago...ans. machine picked up and I listened. Heard generic operator voice saying 'call could not be completed as dialed...' Thought about it for a second and was miffed because this was an INBOUND call. Was someone trying to relay calls off my phone or something? I do NOT have my mortgage with Wells Fargo, nor any of their financial or other services for that matter. I've gotten calls in the past that behaved the same way (operator message like above), but 888-123-4567 was obviously a spoofed ANI so I immediately Googled it.
Forgot to mention I used to work for a company that made dialer machines for telemarketers about 7 years ago. I used to travel the country to fix them when they were broken. Some of the customers of that company were companies just like Global Contact Services. They bid for contracts for sales campaigns for companies of all types. This is absolutely common, though some companies handle their own telemarketing campaigns in-house also. Global Contact Services and their ilk could be calling on behalf of any number of different companies at any given time. Depending on the size of the call center, they most likely divide their 'agents' into groups that are handling a particular contract. Depending on the campaign, an entire center may be dedicated to one contract. The reason for the amount of calls could for a couple of factors. 1. The speed at which the telemarketing computers can crank out calls 2. The 'list saturation' that is required by the terms of their telemarketing contract. This means what it sounds like. They blast the list as quickly as possible, and get as many human responses as possible to stay within their contractual requirements. What you can try to do if you pick up the phone is ask to be recorded and/or monitored by a supervisor. If they oblige and a supervisor is listening, ask to speak with them directly. If they oblige, ask the supervisor to remove your number from the database, and that you will hang on until they finish it. Trust me, it only takes a few seconds to do it. It is a simple SQL query. Of course, at any time they might hang up on you, or you can hang up on them. Also keep in mind that your number is either given to the contact company by their customer, or the customer might not supply a list. In this case they have a range of area codes, and the contact company will auto-generate the lists in sequential order and blast through them. With my procedure above, please know that you might only be successful in having your number removed from this ONE database. The contact company might be contacted for another contact and at that point they might be able to use your number again. I'm sure there's a way for these leeches to flag your number (they're actually required to be able to do this with the do not call registry) so that they can never use it again for any campaign. And ALWAYS remember when dealing with 'agents' that they are trained to steer conversations and control them so don't deviate from your goal in getting a supervisor on the phone. I've listened to their training and script memorization meetings while I was fixing their dialers, trust me that's what they're trained to do. You don't have to be a jerk, just control the conversation yourself. I've found success in first declining to buy what they're selling, from which they will definitely go into 'control and steer mode.' Then when they try to steer, interrupt their script reading by telling how I know how they're trained to control conversations, up-sell, and keep the customer on the phone because the longer we're on the phone, then greater their chances for success are. This usually disarms them a little bit so you can then control the conversation. Then either explicitly tell them 'no sale' or try the process above for getting your number removed.
