Sounds like another bleading heart liberal, like the Dems aren't behind half of the bureaucratic garbage.Both Dems and Reps are to blame.As for the do not call list: I haven't gotten one solicitation since it's emplementation.Need someone to blame, blame the State run Secretary of State, your financial institutions, magazine publications and shops.
Today was the first time we have gotten called from this number. I live in Missouri and we use Wells Fargo as well. I'm guessing they have sold customer info or something. I have gotten more calls from numbers like this in the past 3 months than before the do not call list was started. Why is there such a sudden pick up in calls like this? What a wonderful government.
I heard that a disgruntled employee of Wells Fargo took info and sold it... but heard it was from their credit card division... good luck trying to get through to anyone at Wells Fargo ... arggh .... but so far the call blocking is working -- haven't received another call from them :)
A previous poster stated that Global Contact Services was the company calling on behalf of Wells Fargo. So this morning I called and asked to speak with a manager regarding their phone practices (after being hung up on when my husband wasn't home and I asked who was calling). I spoke a supervisor who said that Global Contact Services are making these phone calls from approx 6-7 different call centers depending on the time of day. I told her that there are three pages here of people who are tired of how they are being harassed. She asked me to call back on Monday and ask for the Quality department. I told that I would along with calling the corporate office for Wells Fargo to let them know how Global represents them. I suggest that others who are bothered by this also call. I have no idea why they called, I didn't answer it, but I don't want the caller calling again.
After receiving several calls from 888-123-4567 with "Unknown Name" on my caller-id and ignoring it, I decided to answer it and got no response. This totally irked me, so I looked into my ATT Privacy Manager (I do not have call block) features online, but did not find out why Privacy Manager was NOT blocking "managing" this "Unknown Name" and that it was harrassing me. I called ATT for assistance and was told that Privacy Manager could not catch calls from those dialed long distance using a "1010..." service. I said I would be interested in buying Call Blocker IF they could guarantee that this harrassing call could be blocked. I'm not sure if that is possible, BUT, ATT was very helpful in setting up a block on ALL calls made using "1010..." services and that is fine with me. I think if you use the term "caller is harrassing" then you get prompt service from ATT. Can't speak about other phone companies. So, I have my fingers crossed that this 888-123-4567 call will now be stopped.
I finally decided to answer this number, and the guy said he was from Wells Fargo, wanting to send me accidental death insurance information, and insisted he needed my birth date to verify eligibility. I told him no,and he gave me "his birthdate" to show that I could trust him. I told him I would not give him my birthdate, and he told me he could not send me any info without it. I told him I was not interested.
I have been recieveing calls from 888-1234567 several times a day also so I called Global Marketing and asked to speak to a manager. He said they are a third party marketing service and would send an e-mail out to remove me from the list in 48 hours. We will see. Thanks for the info.
I have received 3 call a day from 888 123 4567 for several weeks. They go to my house phone which is forwarded to my cell after 2 rings. No-one ever answers when I pick up and no message is ever left.
About 20 minutes ago I got yet another call from 188 123 4567. Resolving to do something about this I found this site I called GCS using the number given by Goldie and spoke with Danielle who said that she would take number off their call list immediately. I used the magic word Harassed. She said they had several call centers and to removal may take up to 30 days to propagate.I told her that there was a website devoted to this number populated by angry recipients of their calls. She seemed aware and apologized. Immediately after ringing off I got another call from 1 888 123 4567! Irritating isn't it?
