Your right only about 20% of that is true, debt that is bought is usually a junk debt and a junk lawsuit if they sued you and you didnt show up in court you would be screwed however.
The callers are from Ace Cash express. SO if you took out a payday loan and did not pay your bill, they will call you to collect on what you borrowed. No sense avoiding the, They are all very nice (except for some man name Robert ...ugh!!) Most of them are approachable and will work with you on a repayment if you are unable to pay the entire loan amount due. They also call from numbers similar to (213) 814-2352. (dont call that number - that's robert - He is nasrty)
The no's that called me was this one and also (213) 814-2355 also asking for a niece of mine who listed my contact information as a reference. She defaulted on her payday advance loan. I told them I did not know what her new contact information was. No one is obligated to provide a social security number over the phone. That is the law. FYI: CA state law is clear and defends debtos in thatCollectors are not allowed to pressure you when attempting to collect on a debt and can be prosecuted if found guilty of doing so. Also they are not allowed to call before 8am nor after 9pm.
If you have received a payday loan from Ace Cash Express either online or in one of their store locations and was not able to pay back the loan when scheduled, an Ace rep will call you from this number or a local number to collect the payment.
They got their money, they crashed my bank account in doing so (we had an agreement which they failed to honor, job changed, payday changed and yes, they had the documentation) and STILL the imbeciles are calling me, as if they deserve more than was contracted for somehow.Do business with them at your own risk .......
You are wrong as well...Debt Collectors are required to follow both State and Federal laws (FDCPA) as well as FCC Regulations. You are correct in stating that the Do Not Call list doesn't apply, but the FCC still indeed does.At least be an informed, well trained debt collector before attempting to defend your company.:)
hmmmmmm, the last time i checked .......... while i was still working for a law office as an investigator, the general consensus was that you should NEVER pay a collection agency ..... for several reasons ..... the first is that they generally won't have the original note, which is prima facie evidence required by most states ..... if they want you in court .... i would suggest you go, and ask to see the original note as proof that you actually owe THEM something .... when they don't produce it, IMMEDIATELY, a good attorney can generally make a fair argument to have the case dismissed ....... second, paying a collection agency doesn't necessarily vacate a debt ..... if someone else holds the actual note and they can show that it isn't satisfied, then they can bring action against you to collect on the debt, a second or possibly even a third time ..... a great many collection agencies "buy" debts, collect on them and never pay ANYTHING to the original debt holder ...... consult with a local attorney for the most up to date advice ..... if you can't afford one, a book that more than a couple have recommended to me (and which i've put to good use assisting clients) is ...... Back Off!: The Definitive Guide to Stopping Collection Agency Harassment ...... by Benjamin F Dover ...... don't listen to the fruit loop though, that one seems only marginally literate and far from nuetral
If you don't want them calling you at work or at home then the answer is simple...PAY YOUR BILLS!
i have been receiving several calls a day from this number. They call and ask for Calvin, and when I explain that this is not Calvin's number, they get very irate. I have asked repeatedly to be taken off this call list, and yet they keep calling. This is NOT my debt, and I am tired of dealing with these rude people- ( in fact, one of them called me a "lying b>tch" when I told them they had the wrong number). I refuse to change my phone number, so does anyone have any thoughts on how to handle this, as they are making my life miserable.
