Just got a call from them. Said I was being given a grant for $9,000 that I don't have to pay back. I said "uh huh." and the call abruptly ended while he was in mid sentence. Sounded like he was from India. I guess my phone accidentally "dropped" the call for me! Added to my app CallFilter on my android which has done an amazing job of blocking calls for me. Been on the Do Not Call registry for a while now. Will report.
Got phone call from this number telling it's US govt and they need to give me money. I interrupted rudely and ordered not to call my number anymore. Can anything be done to punish these morons?
Just got the call. I feel cheated, she (heavily accented Caribbean) only offered me 5000.00. End of pitch she asked if I wanted to know how I qualified and I asked her if she knew who I was. She said yes. I asked 'What's my name?' Surprised that she hung up after that..... Go figure
Got call from this unknown number. Picked up at last minute (not like me) and there was no one there. They hung up and tried calling them back and the voicemail or whatever said the caller couldn't be reached at this time. Looked up this number and found out it is a scam!!!
They are still at it. I just got off the phone with a guy speaking in a fake, broken accent. I heard his pitch, and at the end I had two options to receive "$9000 for school and/or home improvements to my house." 1) was through my bank account and 2) through a check or credit card of some sort. I told him I was not comfortable giving my personal information over the phone, and then he hung up.There number is (202) 210-0054.
I just received a call from 202-210-0054..the connection was horrible and they guy was hard to understand, but he did tell me that I was selected to receive $9000 in a government grant. I just hung up...I hope there isn't anyone out there who falls for this ridiculous scam.
Uh, oh. I hope you called your bank immediately! Call then and tell the the mistake you made and ask them what can be done to protect your account. They may have to close it and open a new one, which might involve a charge, but it's better than having a scammer steal everything you have! Also may now need to go through the process of identity theft recovery. Who knows what they will do with that info, like open credit cards in your name, etc. I'm so sorry for this horribly hard lesson...
Called identified himself as a representative of the government in Washington DC. In a heavy accent told me I was chosen to receive $9000. He stated I was probably interested to know why I was chosen, and I responded, yes, I was most interested in knowing what kind of scam he was running. His response was to chuckle and say so funny,. thats funny. chuckle, chuckle, funny. I disconnected.
received call from "Randy Green" (heavy Indian accent) of the federal gov't, told me I was picked to received 9k in grant money from the feds because I paid my bills on time. What he needed was a credit card or bank account to transfer the funds to. I asked him to mail me the check, but said the feds don't do that. Last time I checked they mailed tax refund checks. I then asked him to give me his number and I would call him back with the info, he hung up. From the moment I answered the phone, you could tell it was a scam
