I received 5 phone calls within 2 hours from this number. All the caller ID showed was New York. Twice I let it go to my voice mail, but no message was left. Finally I decided to answer and all I could hear was a beeping noise like a fax machine. I called the number back and heard a recording stating the company name was Sterling Info Systems. I connected to an operator who then told me the call was for employment verification. She transfered me to another department and I was placed on hold. I hung up. Then I received 2 more calls from the mystery beeping thing. It would seem they are a legitimate company, however this type of activity is very unprofessional. It also seems highly suspicious. If I continue to receive calls I will report it as harrasment to the authorities.1-800-899-2272 212-736-5100 website: www.sterlingtesting.come-mail: info@sterlingtesting.com
This person had horrible service I could hardly understand what he was saying, aside from his Indian accent. They were asking for the person in charge of something, again could not understand or make out what he was saying. I asked him not to call. He has called a place of business and wanted someone in charge. Very annoying.
This company does indeed do background checks. They called yesterday and did not leave a message. I answered today after reading the posts here. They are in the process of background checking me and needed more info but nothing I was worried about giving to someone over the phone. I recently accepted a job offer and was told they would check me. And yes, she sounded Indian and was VERY hard to understand.
Received a call from this company. The connection was horrible and I could not understand anything they were saying. I've read the other entries and if it is, in fact, a company trying to do a background or verification, we required an authorization signature from the employee for which they are requesting information. Their request must also be in writing and we only provide certain information. We do not release employee information over the phone.
I got a call from this number yesterday. The man, in a very East Indian accent, said he was calling from Banda Express to verify employment for someone in my company, then proceeded to ask what company he had called reciting the phone number he called. When I questioned him about his name, his company, who he was calling for (I'm good at acting stupid on the phone) he became adamant that I should tell him who he'd called, and when I continued to return his questions with questions of my own he got mad and hung up. I know positively he said Banda Express because he spelled the name, as well as having two other employees here to who heard me repeat back to him what he said. Just beware.
Demanding female, Indian name, heavy Indian accent. Wanted to verify a last year seasonal employee. Asked was employee "eligible" to hire. I said I didn't understand what that meant. I refused to give salary or give my full name. Was unhappy my title was "Treasurer" and "Pay Master". Would not give me any authorization to release the info, and the she as calling for SterlingBack... "You know who we are!!l" no
I just got a call from one of their reps in connection with a job I applied for. Apparently the office I worked in has closed. Despite my providing the telephone number and email address for a current VP who can verify my past employment, I was told that they can't contact him. Further, they wanted a W2 form or a pay stub. Really intrusive.
