Got several message on my home machine from them, wanting employment verification for a name I didn't recognize. (Joe Simpson). Thick Indian accent. I called them back and talked to a female with a thick accent and told her I did not recognize the name. She said this person told them they were the manager of our farm. I told her we had never had any employees but she did not ask for any personal info except to verify the name of our 'business' and our phone number. Strange thing is, the same day I got a call from an 011 number saying they were Google Maps and wanted verification of our 'business' address.
Received back-to-back calls this morning. A man asked for the head of HR by name, supposedly to follow up an email. He dropped away when I requested more details, because managers' calls must be screened, but the space was instantly filled by the same number. A man (with an accent this time) wanted to verify employment, so I transferred him to a recording that provides instructions. Strange, but what else is new? "Call Type" should be split between Telemarketer and Employment Verification.
They asked me for a copy of my W-2 or pay stub. Why would someone verifying employment need this???
Got a call from them 20 minutes ago. The caller ID said Clint Teffany. The woman had a thick Asian accent and asked to be transferred to our HR department. I work at a small marina and we are owned by a corporation in Texas. Our phones don't even have the capability to transfer, so she would've had to call the corporation directly. Anyway, after she asked that I hung up because we get a lot of telemarketing calls and such. She called back right after. I didn't answer. She left a voicemail saying that she was Stephanie at Sterling Backtrack and she needs info about one of our employees (a 17 year old who was fired recently). She wanted a call back and gave me a reference number. Based on what I've read about Sterling on this site, I'll let my coworkers know not to answer this number.
Company is quite aggressive by calling 2x/day which honestly inhibits my progress to research & reply to verify!Calls during evening, well after our business hours, usually leaves message, then returns call twice the following day.In effort to more efficiently respond to requests for education verification, I have repeatedly provided to the Company the few details I need to expedite verification when speaking with their representation on "recorded line documenting our calls." Ignored. Always requires return call to their first call. Then still receive 2 calls the following day.As with many businesses, we do not have luxury of staff only doing one task. Obviously strive for minimal turnaround time at my end, but company does little to help process.
