I too got this call but I refused to pay the expired warranty fee that came up after I let them convince me to do a number of things on computer. I am so mad right now that I fell for it up to that point. Sure hope it hasn't screwed my computer up. I am beating myself up right now!!!!! Should have looked at caller ID.

You computer may have been compromised and your identity stolen if they had remote access. Do not go back on the internet until you have had a local tech support person you trust verify your computer is free of malware and spyware. Also, contact your bank(s), credit card companies and the credit reporting agencies to place an alert for possible fraudulent activity on your accounts.

Got a call from 288-918-6555 at 10a.m.ish. The area code 288 is an exchange for 309 in the state of Illinois.Didn't pick up. Came straight here to see what others are saying.I don't use a PC (linux) so this call is complete waste of time.I wish I could fire a freaking missile through my line at these terrorists who have taken over America's telephone systems. Why can't Homeland Security stop them? Probably Bin Laden's friends...

Let the Indian dude go on about his BS. He then told me to go to www.showmypc.com and I lied and told him i was doing it. When I said i had gotten to the home screen he asked me what I saw. I replied,"Nothing because i'm not doing this s#*%, FA^&*%!!" lol

I just got the same call from the guy with the Indian accent. Told me my computer was running slow and he worked for microsoft. He could help me fix my computer over the phone if I went to my computer. RIght..... I let him struggle with his English and kept asking him what he was saying. Then I hung up!

Got a call same as everyone else. Told him not to call back again. He hung up.

got call from 1-288-918-6555 from guy from India advising me to go on www.showmypc.comhe said he was from Microsoft, when I said I work in technology field and I know what he is trying to do. He started sursing and swearing in Hindi(Indian) then hung up.

At 1005 AM - EST. My wife received a call from 288-918-6555 stating they were from Micro Soft. They stated that they were receiving virus alerts from our computer and wanted assistance to trouble shoot the warning messages. I have been in IT for the past 20 years and my wife knew this was a fake - She told the person that they were not legit and hung up on them. She said they spoke with a heavy Indian accent.

I received a call from the above number on 1/24 @ 10:14am. They asked for my fiance (by name) and alerted me of illegal downloads to/from our computer. I told the heavy accented indian woman she was not available and nothing was wrong with our computer. She asked "why the hell am I talking to you"? I replied with a 4 letter "blessing" and hung up! She said she was calling from Microsoft.
