We got a call from this number tonight at 6:42PM EST. Fortunately, wife was talking to a friend again and did not answer.
Haha, he called me and said he saw signals coming from my computer. I asked him what kind of computer I had, he stammered and screwed.
Just received a call from this number. Was in front of my computer and Googled 288 area code and it came back as being from India.I have just recently mastered the skill of not answering the phone when caller i.d. shows an unknown phone number. I don't answer it despite the nagging I get from my curiosity.
Just picked up call from this number. Indian accent female instructing me to go onto my computer as she guides me to "help" me with a Windows problem. told her to take my # off her list. I have no problems
Received call from a man with a heavy Indian accent, identifying himself from Microsoft. He told me that my computer had serious problems and that I should turn on my PC so he could help me. When I asked how I would know that he was from Microsoft, he tersely replied, "Ma'am, you registered with us when you got your computer."Asking him for information about this registration resulted in an immediate hang-up.
Same thing happened to me this afternoon. I told him, "I don't think so" when he wanted to walk me through getting rid of a virus on my computer.
I received a call from a Lady informing me that my computer had downloaded a virus and she was there to help me by remote access. I asked Her how do I know she is from Microsoft. She said, I will provide verification. I waited for a second and she repeated the script and so did I; she hung up. All the times my computer has reported errors in the past nobody has called to help me with the issue. How could they bc they ck not ask for a phone number???
Guy with heavy East Indian accent claimed he was from "Microsoft Windows" and that my computer had been sending error messages. He wanted access to my computer to "fix" the problem. I hung up on him.
They'd called a couple of times, I never answer calls from unknown numbers. I'd seen what they were when I'd checked their number here, just hadn't had time to block their number yet... So when they called again this morning, it was an opportunity too good to pass up...I answered: "You've reached the National Security Agency, this is a recording. All calls to this number are recorded and added to a watch list for terrorist connections. Please leave your name and number and someone will return your call." The only sound was a click followed by a dial tone. I don't think they're likely to call MY number again! :)
Got a call this morning from a woman with a thick Indian accent #288-918-6555. She claimed she was from Microsoft and that my computer had been downloading viruses or bad files and they wanted to clear them from my computer. She knew my first name as well, and she then asked me if I had a computer. I said yes I do but I dont understand why you would have to ask that question if you already know that. She hung up on me lol.I knew it was a scam from the start and I reported it to the FCC as per what Microsoft's site had said to do.For a scam they are not very good at it. I mean really you claim to know my computer is reporting to you that I have downloaded viruses and then you ask me if I have a computer. How stupid do they think people are, that was a dead giveaway that it was a scam.
