caller said I had downloaded a virus and was from Microsoft Windows (heavy India (?) accent. Wanted me to type showmypc.com in the run window. Ain't happening but others may fall for it.

Same man same story gave me another to check him out 804-435-5332 need a password at other end. Also gave me code to input. What a scam. reported to fcc. Will see.

I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. Based on what I see above I can relate a story about my neighbor who got a call from a very patient male with an Indian accent. He said he was to busy to deal with the computer and asked caller to call back the next day, which he did. Again he said he was to busy and asked for a call back # which the caller supplied. He then call MicroSoft to be told it was a scam. This caller was very polite and patient. Don't be fooled. MicroSoft doesn't call anyone about a virus on a PC. Especially a old machine running XP.

I got the same call. He was emphatic that he worked for Microsoft. I never give info over the phone and knew Microsoft wouldn't make a call like this. Phishing for info...

A guy just called, for the second time in a week, and told me I had a PC virus. I told him, for the second time in a week, I had an Apple and to stop the scam and he told me to go to hell. I followed up in very un-lady like language and slammed the phone down.

Caller with a heavy Indian accent knew my name. Said he was from "Microsoft Windows" and said an error had been reported on my computer. I had trouble understanding him. He asked me to go on my computer. Asked him which computer - as I have 4 of them? He said "the one you use the most." That's when I was certain this was a phishing call. Told him I did not want to play and hung up.Likely he obtained my name/number from VOTER REGISTRATION rolls. The phone number he called used to be a dedicated data line; it is unpublished and I never give it out. I listed it just once when I registered to vote years ago (to avoid political calls on my home phone).

I just received a call from an Indian speaker who claimed to be calling from Microsoft support and read me the CLSID from running the ASSOC command. He wanted to set up a remote dialin session. I declined after googling CLSID. I gave him no information.

Just got a call from this number. Had the following numbers proceeding 288-918-6555 (9021)He asked if Mr. or Mrs. Laws were in and my daughter said that we were not. He then told her, "Then what the F*ck are you doing answering the phone!!!???" So she hung up. Disturbing

I meant 9021 preceeded 288-918-6555

I got a call from 288-918-6555 also. I didn't answer & they didn't leave a message. It said name not found. How do they get away with this, (after reading the post above) & how did they get my #??
