Saw number on caller ID with description "Police Protective". I looked up the phone number and it is listed as belonging to "John H Farrell (301) 762-6650". I did not return the call because the information did not match the caller ID.

Received phone call from this number, 301-762-6650, didn't answer, caller ID revealed Police Protection.

I answered and they asked for my mother, who contributed to them last year. Thanks for the site, I will have to tell her. Good thing she only gave $25.

I was in Law Enforcement for 14 years and NEVER heard of these guys. When my wife explained that we could not afford a donation right now, they hung up in the middle of her answer. I would recommend that you ONLY donate to your local police or sheriff's department, and not just some organization using a fancy-sounding police name. Remember, these guys are just hourly telemarketers who are probably bonused on commission. Don't think for one minute that you are speaking to a real police officer trying to raise money for another officer in distress or to buy a bullet-proof vest for officers. If in doubt, ask a lot of questions and don't give them any money unless you are sure! Call the police and report anything suspicious.
