I did not answer the call but decided to research it and then I found this website and that eased my concern about the nature of the call.
12:24pm 3/23/2007 phone rang, I did not answer, they left no message.This ID shows up every week or so for last couple months. I'm on the Eastern Shore in Salisbury, MD. Thanks for the website. Good to know about the scam.
Call tonight (3/21/08) was from a woman at this number in what sounded like a large room with lots of other voices. She said she was calling from the Police Protection (the name that showed up for this number in caller ID on my phone). Wanted me to agree to send money, for which she would "invoice" me at my home. Did not ask my address. I asked her how much she was making for the call, and she said she was paying herself because they were a non-profit.
just received a call from this number 301-762-6650 listed as polie protection....no one answered when I picked up the phone. Glad I read these messages since I was very concerned about why police protection would be calling me.
