Are robocalls illegal...yesAre they spoofing their number...yesWill they remove my number by pressing "2"....noWill they continue to call me...yesShould I ignore the call....noIs there anything I can do...yesTo get on their real do not call list, answer their call and pretend you're interested. Keep them on the line for as long as possible. Make their job difficult by playing along with their scam. Don't give them any clue that you're wise to their scam. They are trained to avoid time wasters and will hang-up in a heartbeat. BELIEVE ME, THEY DO NOT WANT TO TALK TO PEOPLE THAT WASTE THEIR TIME.
This company, "Cardholder Services", called me, too. I got the same message about debt reduction. They have called 10 times. I took a different route to get relief. I traced the telephone number to the servicing telephone company. It is QWest at 800-244-1111. When they answered I made a complaint about Cardholder Services and their calls. The Qwest agent said they couldn't do anything about the problem. If they get enough complaint calls about Cardholder Services they may find a way to stop the calls.
i get these calls daily....the trick is to press 1 as quickly as possible, that way you get to talk to someone. i like to answer their questions with made up information for as long as i can then i go in with the "fcuk you, c%$# scammer. i at least saved one old lady who might fall your [***] scam from losing her life's savings." Sometimes they hang up and i feel :-( most of the time the trash on the other end will stay on and try to give it back and then i feel :-) .......................it really is a nice stress reliever to go off on these punching bags. my latest victim was named "Jackie". sounds like a stoner just trying to get her next fix!
oh yea,one more thing. when she got defensive about being a scam artist ( i use the term "artist loosely) and i dared her to give me a working phone number to call back she gave me 800-847-2911....it answers as a visa number but it might help some of you get to someone live and make them uncomfortable/miserable.
Just got another call from 303-249-9700. This is the fifth one this week. Earlier, I would just press 1 and then put the phone up to the radio I have playing at my desk Today, I took the suggestion of others here and called back and immediately pressed 5. I was routed to a message that repeated my cell number and pressed 2 to change the number so suffice it to say, I've been having fun all afternoon sending them back numbers I think they might be interested in (or perhaps the other way around).I seriously doubt it will stop them from calling but at least it's clogging up their system and I'm having some fun doing it.
It really is encouraging to find this forum and other people dealing with such a frustrating issue. I get these calls from 303 249 9700 while at work at the most inconvenient times. I pressed one numerous times and politely asked to e taken off the calling list, and i was hung up on every time. Finally I went along with the questions just long enough and said "if you do not stop calling I will find your company", to which the person on the other end responded that he had my information on file and he would "find me". Sounds like a threat to me and I will not stand for it. I am seeking to follow this thing until myself or someone pursues legal action against these lawbreaking, disrespectful people. I will be checking back in on this forum to see peoples progress.
