*** *** Lady at FCC said to goto www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html click on telemarketing 1088 form, and fill it out, and choose Abandoned Calls at the bottome for type of call. I am just about to do this, so I hope it goes well. Said action will only be taken if enough people complain about the same number, but cannot not do anything just cause of me calling in.
Why am I getting calls from this number? I live in rural Pennsylvania (Amish country). I certainly have no interest in subscribing to a newspaper in Texas. I can't believe that the newspaper to which I subscribe (The Reading Eagle - a local, very small paper) would sell my name to some marketing group in Texas. Weird.Laura in Fleetwood, PA
They have called more than once AFTER I was told my number was removed from the call list...
I've read through 4 pages of this phone numbers info - thinking the whole time that I've never in my life received a news paper subscription and the number I have now is only about 4 years old and know for a fact I've not subscribed to a paper in the last four years. Who needs a newspaper with the internet, I mean please!!! Beside, I live in Michigan and all this junk about the Houston Chronicle doesn't have anything to do with me. Anyway... THANK YOU VICKY!!!!!!!! I knew it couldn't be a stupid news paper thing. I also will **NOT** be calling that number that was given out to "take my number off the list" because the REASON THEY ARE SO NICE WHEN YOU CALL TO GET IT REMOVED IS BECAUSE THEY ARE LAUGHING AT YOU, WHILE THEY SELL YOUR (NOW VALID) NUMBER TO SOME OTHER FOOL THAT WILL CALL YOU 100 TIMES A DAY!!! JEEZ, WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!
I cant even get any one to pick up at this number or the automated system is full everytime I asked to be removed. Very frustrating.
Come on knowstuff, telemarketers are the bane of the 21st century, why do you think the federal government got off their seats and started a list to prevent these annoying calls? I guess people actually buy stuff from these pests, but I know of several elderly who were swindled out of money due to not knowing better and through these callers taking advantage of their naivete.Good riddance to them. Perhaps you own a telemarketing firm, but this will cause these people, who in and of themselves are probably not bad people, to find real work. I seriously doubt that laying off telemarketers hurts anyone other than the callers and the people making money from their actions.
- A post by “Vicky” on page 4 =I did a lot of work on The Pisa Group. The Pisa Group is a telemarketing company that violates the do-not-call registry. I also called them to have my name removed and like with all other people, they were friendly and gave me the standard answer that my number was provided by my local newspaper in Austin. Well, the Acquisition Sales & Retention Manager from the Austin American Statesman did do a thorough investigation and confirmed this is incorrect. She contacted the Pisa group and found out that this company practices "prefix dialing" and never received my information from the newspaper. Obviously, the Pisa Group is using the good name of a lot of newspapers to cover up their illegal do-not-call practices. I would encourage everybody that has been harassed by the Pisa Group to file an online complaint through the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) and also file a complaint with the government.- My Post = I also **NOT** be calling that number to "take my number off the list" because the REASON THEY ARE SO NICE WHEN YOU CALL TO GET IT REMOVED IS BECAUSE THEY ARE LAUGHING AT YOU, WHILE THEY SELL YOUR (NOW VALID) NUMBER TO SOME OTHER FOOL THAT WILL CALL YOU 100 TIMES A DAY!!! They also call me several time a day. I am going to call my phone company and have the number blocked. It's easy to say ignore, I do not answer un-known numbers, but the constant calling is irritating when you're at work.
