We have gotten thousands of calls from bogus survey takers and a wide variety of scammers. I don't have a clue what planet folks are from, who think that you should be polite to bozos who call and ask questions (many of the "survey calls" we get are NOT legitimate). I don't want to be called by ANYONE who I don't know .... for ANY reason. Before we started blocking calls, we were getting 12-14 a day from a variety of yahoos. Most of the folks who call us, are simply some form of criminal ... working to steal $$$ under a variety of guises (most of them will NEVER take you off their list). Our number has been on the DNC list since it first started ... and it is clear that there is absolutely NO enforcement of that list at this time. Many scammers pretend to be politicians or survey takes, in order to steal your time and $$$$. Obviously some folks are giving their $$ to the scammers, or they wouldn't still be operating. Likewise, if you are polite, and talk to these folks, you are making it bad for the rest of us, by encouraging the constant phone harassment (we haven't been answering unknown numbers, for years). Can't get rid of the landline, because we don't get good cell reception... and am amazed that more folks aren't really ticked off about this. For now, I just track the phone calls, and am amazed at some the patterns that occur. I shall NEVER ever answer ANY survey for ANY reason .... but still we get a bazillion calls from survey companies.
This call came through like most crap calls. Lots of times, the bogus callers spoof numbers that sound like they could be legit. Just because the caller ID seems to indicate that these callers are from a real market research company, doesn't mean that such is really the case. Beyond that, the market research people tend to be yet another kind of annoying (sometimes the same ones, calling up to 3 times day). Maybe this is a "legal" call ... but doesn't mean that it isn't a complete nuisance and abuse of the phone line that I am paying for. Sounds like yet another number to add to the blocked list. Coincidentally, we have been getting a series of calls on the weekends, from a scam charity group, and now calls are coming through from this number instead. Usually, every few weeks, the scams and the numbers that they call from, are changed.
Don't think it was GALLUP but you can check. When they call the name comes up as well as a number and they DO leave a message. I've been doing surveys with them for a number of years out in Omaha and then away while being transferred. Like most of the feedback we are on a DO NOT CALL list and really don't like getting these phone calls.
Looks like I'm joining this wonderful organization of "These MFR's Better Stop Calling Me!" Just got a call at 5:38 PM on my cell, with no message left. So, thanks to Google, here I am. I'm in MD & I've plugged them in as "Don't Answer!"
This company does, among other things, surveys for non-profit organizations. The DNC lists are only for solicitors selling a product or services. It does not apply to surveys or not-for-profit organizations. It also does not apply to places where you have a business relationship, unless you have specifically asked for them to put you on their internal do not call list. Some companies will not put you on the list if you do not remain on the line while they put it through, so be cautious not to hang up before they have done it.
The National Do Not Call Regestry does not pertain to Charities, Political any thing, who you have done business with AND their subsidararies, who you owe money too, and if you fill out a entry for a chance to win something you just removed yourself from the Do Not Call list for that number. The only law they have to pay strict adherence to is what the state they are calling in outlines for unsolicited calls. my state lists a time frame and how often that calls can be made. I have actually gotten more calls since I signed up then before
