called and left a singing message, very hard to understand except for my name. Kind of creepy.
12/16/11 I JUST RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER 5 MINUTES AGO.. THE GUY KEPT ASKING ME WHAT WAS THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF MY SSN. I SAID "WHO IS THIS"? HE SAID, "THIS IS DYNAMIC RECOVERY" .. HE CALLED MY NAME AND ASKED WAS THIS CORRECT. I TOLD HIM NO, HE SAID, "I FIND THAT VERY HARD TIO BELIEVE". THEN I HUNG UP ON HIM. SOMEHOW THEY ARE GETTING VITAL INFORMATION FROM SOMEWHERE. THIS IS A SHAME!!!
When I answered they said they were Chase Bank and to press 1 which I did, it disconnected. I am sending this to the OK Atty Gen as it is a scam. Is anyone being charged for these calls? I won't know yet.
If it is a collection agency, then don't answer. They can't collect a debt for which they paid 2 cents on the dollar if no one answers. Also they MUST send a notice that they are now handling the debt which in any case dispute before 30 day elapses, half the time the correct paperwork hasn't been sent to them and even if you think you owe it, you no longer do. (I had a debt in court that was the wrong numbered account, but right amount and it was dismissed, my attorney rightfully denied I owed the debt.) If you receive such a malied billing from OK, then it is probably these creeps who have a PO in OK, but the call center is in India/Phillipines/etc. As with illegal immigrants and states that are now using some form of law like what Arizona is doing to get a handle on them, state governments could have laws that any collection agency must have their call center in their state if the paper work is coming from their state - it would relieve that state's Atty Gen of such nuisance scammers such as these.
i had the same thing just happen to me minutes ago...i dnt answer calls idk so i deleted voice mail but saved the number to my phone as unknown caller or dnt answer...lol
I've gotten these calls from (405) 555-0199 before, but never answered. The message was always a prerecorded message from somebody calling himself "Mr. Langley," stating that I had to call back ASAP at 1 (888) 849-1910.I received another call today, and answered it out of curiosity... I tried to be polite so that they would tell me as much BS as possible.A woman came on the line asking for me by my maiden name. She did identify the company as "DRS."I asked what the call was in regards to and she told me that the IRS had filed a "cancellation of debt" on a CitiBank balance dating back to 2000. I told her that I know what a cancellation of debt is. And asked why I have not been contacted by the creditor. I told her I'd be happy to give her my mailing address if she would send me info on the original debt. She said, "We don't do billing." I asked why I hadn't heard from the IRS if had filed the cancellation of debt form (as she said at the beginning of the call), she told me that they had not filed it YET.I finally told her that since she couldn't send me the info in writing, I couldn't help her. And please don't call me again. She responded by angrily saying, "don't call us again later!" Like there's a threat of that! Not all creditors are bad. Some will work with you. But this company is running a scam.
