Your caller does not own or maintain this website. You will have to tell your caller that the bill was paid. Since many of the people on this thread are being contacted by scammers - per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to mail a debt validation letter - do not accept email or fax - showing that you owe a debt and that your caller has the legal right to collect said debt. Refusal to mail this DV letter within five days of their first call is another violation of the FDCPA. It's also federal law that debt collectors and attorneys working as or on behalf of debt collectors comply with the FDCPA, which means that THEY - not you, the consumer - have the burden of proof to show that you owe a debt to them.

As with all debt collectors, if it is not your debt or belongs to someone you know, contact the FTC and file a complaint. Explain that you have no bad debts or they are calling about someone else's debt, which is against the law, since it is a violation of privacy. The FTC will send your complaint to the company and you can handle from there. I recently was successful in getting a company to stop calling my personal cell phone looking for someone I know. How they got my number, I have no clue. This is another company I need to handle about the same situation. I am NOT related to the person they are trying to contact and it is against the law to contact me.

constant calls, sometimes three or four a day, which I do not answer any more. but they never leave a message.

I know I owe them money but I have never been talked to like this in 75 years.. I don"t want to pay them becauxe of how they talk to me.

They claim that I need to call them to discuss "an important business matter". It's always a recording, everyday,numerous times a day. If it's so important, why can't a "person" call me,rather than have me call them (Long distance)? Who are these people and what do they want? I refuse to find out on my dime.Get a job LOSERS!

In my case this turned out to be a valid call.Initially I was suspicious as they called from a cell phone and not the company number. In any case I called the main line back and provided my reference number. The person (Laura) was cordial. I asked for information on the debt it turned out my business registered agent bill had gone unpaid and it was sent to them for collections. I paid the registered agent directly and not the collection agency. Registered agent pulled it back from collections.

My mom has been receiving calls from McCarthy, Burgess and Wolff and they have been harassing her and have been very rude and obnoxious. They call everyday, 3 to 4 times a day. She is a very sick woman, been in and out of the hospital due to COPD and Pneumonia. I would like to have to calls STOPPED, she doesn't need this kind of aggravation!!!! If it doesn't stop, I will call the Attorney General and file a complaint!

That's totally believable. I can see how you forgot to pay considering this so called Business Agent never sent you a bill or reminders of that overdue bill, or even possibly called to see why it wasn't paid. Instead he chose to send it directly to a collection company that probably took a third of the amount due to him.

They call 5-6 times 7 days a week, when I answer there is nobody there. It is a recording that says that they are McCarthy Burgess & Wolff & they have an important business matter to discuss.

Yes, they are a collection agency from Ohio. The person I have spoken with twice if very obnoxious and insulting.
