I just called Macy's customer service department to see if this is a legit call - and it is. It is their collection department and they do not leave a message due to Third Party confidentiality issues. So if you do get a call from them, there is more than likely a problem with your account. The man I spoke with said Mason, OH is where "collections" is located.
I'm starting to think that MACY's maybe behind this, i applied and received a MACY's card around May 2009, shortly there after I started receiving unknown calls from 513-754-9822 and 800-395-2274.
I've also been getting a bunch of these calls. My wife took a message, and the person claimed to be calling for Macy's. They left an 800 number for me to call - 800-972-6229. When I called it, I got a recording about "unclaimed money" owed to many people, and it gave a 900 number to call. The unclaimed money part can be true (usually small accounts of some sort), but there are free web sites that you can check to see if you have any. We found a few hundred dollars owed to a friend through one of them, but there's no need to call a 900 number for it.
OKAY i get this number calling me 5 times a day. i never answered it bcuz i dont answer calls i dont know. obviously it was super important they would leave a voicemail but they dont. so why call 5 times a day to someone with out leaving a voice mail? thats why i dont answer it. and now reading everyones comments here im definatley not answering it!
My wife has been gettting these calls from 513-745-9822 several times a day for about two to three weeks. I only had one converstation with a female voice; when I asked her just who was calling, she said that they were associated with Macy's. They specifically wanted to talk with my wife. (She is away from the house alot) finally, today, 9-26-09 at 10:45 am, they called again. This time, my wife spoke with a male voice. she asked who was calling. "Macy's Credit Corporation" was the answer. She said that he was going to give her another number to call back on. she didn't write the number down. A week ago, I called the Macy's Customer service number on our billing. I gave them the 513 number and another on they gave me for the wife to call back. they checked the number. THey said it was a fraud number and to call the police - they have already listed that number as a fraud number with thier fraud department. I called my police in Ceres, Ca. THey said that, other than calling us, they haven't violated any law yet. I also called the DO NOt Call center and made a complaint on that number. I am frustrated with these people. From Posts on this and other web sites, it seems hard to get rid of them. Ted
Been receiving this annoying call at least 5-7x a day. Sometimes I have to unplug our phone just so they stop calling. This is not the only calls we receive. Other calls to under 800 and 888 area code. Did my research and true they're not legit. Wouldn't even leave a voice mail. We just don't pick up since we have caller id.
Yea it is legit and Macy's must be desperate!!!! I use the check free too and apparently they aren't getting the payments until 24 to 48 hours after I get them. I made my payment on Sept 18 the day it was due. They got they payment on Sept. 19 and added a late fee and referred me to a collections agency over one day. They must be reaallllly desperate for some money. They wouldn't credit the late fee and I have no idea what the man was saying. But, I told him I made another payment today earlier before they called 3 thousand times. And he apoligized. They also wanted to know when I was making another payment. WOW!!!! Everyone is trying to get your money even America's oldest department store. I hate Macy's. I can't believe this store that represents America has outsourced to India.
