Thanks everyone for posting these messages and I am writing to let you know that Neusa Hawhorne is still active, offering a flat in Greenwich Village for $65 per night on craigslist. Beware!
Stop negotiations immediately. This is SCAM. Those vacation rentals don't exist. I am a victim as well. There is also a Sara with an apartment in West Village for $120. SCAM. The rule is, when you have to send money in advance to somebody you don't know personally and who invents all kind of excuses to avoid meeting you or friends or relatives, it is SCAM. We cannot understand that there are people who can live like vultures, but there are many. So beware. They will be punished in the end.
For everybody being a victim of SCAM: flag on GL. If the SCAM address is still there. We should make it as hard for these people as we can. GL is warning all the time, follow their instructions. We all learned it the hard way. But we have to strike back.

I'd like to hear your story if you've been victimized by the apartment rental scam on Craigslist or another vacation rental site. I'm a journalist who's writing a story about this scam. The scam has evolved to the point where many of the scammers are now providing bank account information (to make their scam look legit). They're asking you to transfer money from your bank to their bank. I've already contacted Bank of America who are now investigating two B of A account and routing numbers provided by these scammers. You may reach me directly at: wisha59ner@hotmail.com
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE INFORMATION!!! I was almost going to move forward to secure the apartment for rent on 105 E. 9th St. in October, 2010...GOOD THING I SAW THESE POSTS!!! GRRR Sherri Gordon, you big time scammer!!! That is so disappointing and frustrating..
I almost got scammed too yesterday! I was in contact with Nicole James for a nice flat located at 113 Prince Street New York City, NY 10012 to rent in November for a week for only 420$. We were about to send the money throught Western Union yesterday. Just before doing it, we had the great idea to put the Project Manager name on google to check is everything was ok and realised it was a scam! It also was Wendy Accurso located in 81 Aunty Lilly Lane, Annandale, VA , 22008,If you also have any recommendations to find a secure flat in NY, I'll be interested !! Thanks!
I just got two distinct offers for an appartment rental in NYC from Jane Synovec and Kimberly Wallace. I asked for a phone number to talk to the personn - and both personns gave me the same phone number, (315) 381-5286 located in Clinton, NY. They also asked for a MoneyGram payment in Terre Haute Indiana, 18 south 18th street. It's a rip off !! Thanks guys for posting this - I did not get screwed !!
