yea they just called me. And asked to verify my phone number..wtf? if they called me then THEY know my number. I told him I sent the survry in. He said "yea well there is a problem..I interupted with a f%$#@ you and hung up. Sorry folks they should have already know that info.
This is a legitimate number from the U.S. Census Bureau. It's in everyone's best interest to answer their surveys, and they're usually short.
Why is it in anybody's "best interest" to answer these invasive surveys? Why do we have to put up with the goddam government invading our privacy and asking questions that are none of their damn business? The only "legitimate" reason for the existence of the census bureau is to figure out how to allocate "representatives" in congress geographically, and they can only do that once every 10 years. Never mind that the clowns in congress don't represent real people. What happens if you don't answer Big Brother? Do you go to Security Prison?Stop all phone surveys NOW!
I was a worker for the 2010 Census, and my parents recently received a call from this number. This is NOT a US Census operation. ALL legitimate census operations take place on a very local basis, so your census worker will live within a few blocks of your house. Census workers are prohibited by law from working outside of their immediate neighborhoods. Therefore, unless you live in Tucson, there is NO WAY you can get genuine census calls from there. Furthermore, the 2010 Census is not a phone-based operation. There are very strict regulations governing collection of information by census workers: three personal visits, with notices left at the residence each time, are required before the enumerator is allowed to look for a neighbor or other proxy. You can call the local office to respond to a Notice of Visit, but no one from out of state should ever call you. PLEASE call your local or regional census office and report these crooks!
Glad I looked this up. I got a message today and I could not understand the woman at all. She may or may not have said her name and where she was calling form. She did, however, speak the phone number and case # clearly. I did complete my census form and got a letter stating a census worker would be coming to my home to ask further questions. I will not be calling them back. I tried to find this number through telephone search engines and the company is not available. Makes me glad I didn't answer the call.
I got a call from this number just a few minutes ago. Funny how I could not understand the woman's name or the name of the business she was calling from, but she made damn sure she said the phone number and case number clearly. This alone makes me suspicious. I have worked for many different companies and I always make sure that my name, company I represent, and phone number are said clearly and slowly. I also leave a reason for the call. I filled out my census paperwork and received a return letter that later a census worker would be coming to my home to ask more questions as I had been "selected" to provide further info. Maybe they will find me home, maybe they won't. I answered the mandatory questions and I feel I did my part. I served in the military and I appreciate my rights. I am not afraid of governmental interference, I just prefer to be left alone. In my opinion, this is not legitimate as the census is NEVER conducted over the phone. We are never supposed to give out our personal information over the phone unless we can verify the person we are speaking with represents a company with a legitimate need for this information, and generally if that is the case we are calling them with the questions! Why are they calling cell phones instead of home phones??? Maybe they hope to catch you when you are busy and distracted in the hopes that you give them all your personal information without thinking twice. Believe me, the government already has your info. So does the grocery store if you use their "reward" card, savings card, or a baby club card. I don't see why the government would be concerned with the type of deodorant I use, the number of times I wipe after a bowel movement, or if I use tampons or pads.
They called my cell phone at 11:21 p.m. ....I'm a 14 year old girl . I just want to know why they called me .
Census Enumerator here, amending comments from "gab" on the 14th. What gab describes is mostly true for the decennial operation only. That's the one running this spring and summer with the ten easy questions. The Bureau also conducts other surveys, including the famously detailed American Community Survey, which involves weeks of visits AND phone calls. Gab, this was almost certainly mentioned during your training. You may want to chat with someone in your LCO or the Bureau's NPC before you make any more misleading public statements.
I keep getting calls from the US Census, however; the paperwork I sent in stated they would only call if there was information that was not clear, these guys say they just want to do a follow up interview!!!!! oh hell no. Don't ever put your number on a census form, they are selling the telephone numbers, yep our government is not honoring their stated purpose in order to gain access into our lives and won't stop calling.
Totally legit, I called them back and got directed to an operator. I had some missing fields on my Community Survey that came shortly after the US Census. I remember specifically not answering some of these questions because I did not know (form wasn't entirely explanatory). They are just trying to gather the rest of the information they don't have. Not a big deal I don't think. They never asked for my ss number (probably because I filled it out already).
