Have received 2 calls/messages that it is the census bureau and to call them back. I do not trust people calling on the phone for my personal info. I sent in my written questionnaire and feel that is enough. Too many scammers are so expert at scamming us, that I will not call it back. I have enough problems-as we all do-to give more personal info to strangers on the phone. If they are on the level, let them tell us in detail and openly on TV about it.
For more than 2 years, I've received several calls daily, and when I answered the first 50 or so, heard, "Ve vant vork your house (and steal from you)." "Census" interrogators are asking people when they leave for work! Some calls were spoofed, arriving as 000-000-0000, while others gave the corporation owning major malls as caller. There have been calls from "Mali," and "Dominican Republic." There are spoofing devices that allow callers to be anyone, calling from any number they choose. When my many, many complaints to the FTC do not call list went unheeded, I invested in a CPR call blocker - ahhhh, peace at last... Freedom should include the freedom to be left alone, period!
My Monther-in-Law received a phone call from (520) 798-4152; she is 84, living alone and about to have a heart attack with this people, calling and threating her! While FTC establishes a "No Calls" number, this Census people are free to do so. There must be a way to make them stop.
I forgot to add that the current "census" flap began with a call from an area code assigned to southern "Indiana," although I live in California. When I failed to answer, there were 2 more calls, this time from "Maryland." Now the apparent spoofed calls seem to originate in :"Arizona."Some years ago, California voters approved of a Do Not Call List, but when Der Arnold became governor, he fobbed it off onto the Feds.Word is that the FCC\FTC Do Not Call list was last funded during the Carter presidency...California law contains Penal Code Section 653m, which prohibits threatening or annoying phone calls...
BTW, according to the Constitution, no matter what they tell you, all you have to provide is the number of people living in your home. I told them to go F themselves. Another attempt by the Obama administration to get personal data that the government ALREADY has such as income(IRS), health(we're in the 'system'), etc. etc. Ask yourselves WHY do they want this information? To build a profile on YOU and anyone else living in your home for their socialist agenda. Most likely, ACORN has their hands in this also. Oh yeah, Judge Napolitano who is on Fox quite often said he tells everyone who asks him that all they are required to give by law is the NUMBER of people in the house-period! Anything else is UNCONSTITUTIONAL under section I Article 2 of the Constitution. Go check him out at his web page. One last thing, why WOULD the number turn up UNKNOWN if it is really from the federal government and HOW did they get my number since it is supposed to be UNPUBLISHED!
